The Star Wars saga's seventh Celebration, known as Celebration V, also the fifth held in the United States, took place in Orlando, Florida from August 12 to August 15, 2010.
Following Celebration IV, the first hints of Celebration V arose in an online survey conducted by Gen Con:
According to Steve Sansweet in a DragonCon interview, rumors suggested Celebration V would occur in 2010. In July 2008, Sansweet mentioned potential host cities—Baltimore, Indianapolis, Chicago, Minneapolis, and Orlando—in an interview with the Baltimore Business Journal.
Hasbro revealed a diorama contest in July 2009, with the winning entry to be showcased at a Celebration in 2010. However, the event was only referred to as "the 2010 Star Wars Celebration," and not specifically as Celebration V.
During the Star Wars Spectacular panel at Comic-Con that year, Steve Sansweet once more brought up Celebration V. He indicated that it would likely be in summer 2010, around May 21–23.
In October 2009, Spirit Halloween stores promoted a contest for Star Wars Celebration V, using a logo featuring Boba Fett. The Feel the Force contest's winner would receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Celebration V for themselves and three companions, along with a complimentary Ultimate Darth Vader costume.
The official announcement for Star Wars Celebration V was made on December 3, 2009. Ticket sales commenced on December 10, 2009. The Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, hosted the event from August 12 to 15. Numerous autograph sessions were also part of the experience. Like previous installments, Celebration V was "star studded," featuring luminaries such as George Lucas, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher.
