Kohta Jarik served as a Jedi Knight within the ranks of the Jedi Order. During the High Republic Era, she was stationed at Port Haileap, an outpost situated on the Outer Rim planet of Haileap. In the year 230 BBY, a number of ships arrived at the outpost. Initially, this did not alarm Jarik and her superior, Jedi Master Jorinda Boffrey. However, these vessels turned out to be Nihil pirate ships, which then attacked the outpost. During the ensuing conflict, Jarik piloted a Jedi Vector, but she was ultimately killed in action, her Vector crashing into a marblewood forest. Shortly after this event, Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh arrived at Port Haileap and discussed the attack, including Jarik's role in it, with Boffrey.
During the High Republic Era, Kohta Jarik held the rank of Jedi Knight within the Jedi Order. She was stationed alongside Jedi Master [Jorinda Boffrey](/article/jorinda_boffrey], a Delphidian, at Port Haileap on the Outer Rim planet of Haileap in 230 BBY. The arrival of several ships simultaneously at the outpost seemed strange to both Jedi. However, as the ships did not resemble those typically used by the Nihil pirates, neither Jarik nor Boffrey felt any immediate concern. These ships, which were in reality Nihil vessels, then initiated an attack on the outpost. In response, the Jedi Knight took to the skies in a Jedi Vector to defend Port Haileap. Unfortunately, she was overwhelmed by the Nihil forces and met her death. Jarik was one of the few casualties of the battle, and her Vector subsequently crashed into a marblewood forest located a few kilometers away from the outpost.

Following the attack, Boffrey contacted Starlight Beacon, a space station belonging to the Galactic Republic, to report the incident. In response, the Mirialan Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh and her Padawan, Imri Cantaros, were dispatched to Port Haileap. Upon arriving, Cantaros spotted Jarik's wrecked Vector within the forest, prompting Rwoh to question how the Nihil had managed to bring down a Jedi starfighter. Shortly thereafter, Boffrey explained to Rwoh that she and Jarik had initially dismissed the arrival of the ships because they did not appear to be pirate vessels. When Rwoh inquired about the identity of the other Jedi, Boffrey provided Kohta's full name and rank, adding that she had fought valiantly but ultimately crashed her ship—the same one that Rwoh and Cantaros had observed upon their arrival—in a marblewood forest.
Subsequently, Rwoh and Cantaros discovered that their friend Avon Starros had been abducted by the Nihil during the assault. They suggested investigating whether the pirates had launched other attacks in order to better pinpoint Starros' location. Boffrey agreed and expressed her desire to assist the two Jedi, but she felt obligated to stay and help with the outpost's cleanup efforts and the care of the deceased. Cantaros noticed that Boffrey's voice faltered when she mentioned tending to the dead, and he realized that Boffrey was grieving the loss of Jarik during the attack.
