Krant, situated within the Bothan sector, was a planet characterized by its untamed wilderness. This world witnessed conflicts during both the Clone Wars period and the Galactic Civil War. Furthermore, Echuu Shen-Jon, a Jedi Master, sought refuge on Krant for several decades. His seclusion ended when Princess Leia Organa arrived, seeking Utric Sandov, a Bothan agent.

Temperate forests and prominent cliffs defined Krant's landscape. Krant was known for its trees of diverse colors, which shone in the dim sunsets and dropped their large leaves twice each year. Predators were scarce, resulting in a large ecological opportunity for insects and plant-eating creatures to flourish. The Krantian songbirds' sounds filled the night, making it a calm, but loud, place for the new settlers.
Peche and Theenes, two important cities, were focused on agriculture. Le'Roche, another city, was built on an island. Krant was orbited by two moons and many asteroids pulled in by its gravity well. Aereen, one of the primary moons, was abundant in minerals. By 6 ABY, Geddes, an asteroid, had undergone terraforming and was subsequently renamed Hanoon.

Not long before the Clone Wars, Humans and Bothans established colonies on this world. Wookiees also created a settlement, but Sev'rance Tann, a General from the Confederacy, destroyed it while constructing a fortress on Krant in 22 BBY. The surviving Wookiees aided Echuu Shen-Jon in the destroy of Tann's fortress. Feeling he had succumbed to the dark side by killing Tann, Shen-Jon went into self-imposed exile on Krant.
Years down the line, Krant became a key meeting place for Bothan spies and Rebels during the Galactic Civil War. The Galactic Empire scouted it multiple times as a potential base, which put the Rebel operations at risk. Moff Yittreas was put in command of Krant and earned the title "Butcher of Krant" after killing thousands of Krantians for alleged political treason. Following the Battle of Yavin, the Empire seized control of the Alliance's Ghost Base, but an Alliance strike team, led by Shen-Jon and Leia Organa (whose ship, the Cretacian, had previously crashed there), liberated it, along with Peche and Theenes. Organa then achieved her goal, connecting with the Bothan spy Utric Sandov.
The planet also contained abandoned Sith temples and ancient Jedi ruins.
The strategy guide for the 2001 video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, released a week before the game, first mentioned Krant. The game's Databank states that Krant is located 'in the center of Both system', a system within the Mid Rim. However, the seven known planets of that system (Yeltha, Taboth, Bothawui, Golm, Ganash, Hoppawui and Jentawui) do not include one named Krant, unless Krant is an alternative name for Golm.
Adding to the confusion, a mission briefing in the game incorrectly places Krant in the Outer Rim, contradicting the previous sources, which correctly place the Bothan Sector in the Mid Rim. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas clarified that Krant is part of the Krant system, situated within the Bothan sector.
During an Echuu Shen-Jon campaign mission in the 2002 Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns, Anakin Skywalker and Palpatine can be seen near a Sith Temple on Krant. This was an Easter Egg for the game, but it was not at the time Anakin was falling to the dark side, making it non-canonical. The scene is hidden in a corner of the map.
