Laeras-Wu, a male Voss native to the planet of Voss, existed long before the Galactic War. This conflict pitted the Galactic Republic against the Sith Empire. As a Force-sensitive Mystic, Laeras-Wu's death occurred prior to 3640 BBY. Subsequently, his spirit lingered within the Shrine of Healing on Voss. There, alongside fellow Mystics Shanatka-Lo and Hanar-Ye, he imparted knowledge of Force rituals to other Mystics and healers. At the request of the Mystic Valen-Da, Laeras-Wu, along with Hanar-Ye and Shanatka-Lo, instructed the Sith Lord Fulminiss in a healing ritual. Despite Fulminiss's corruption of the ritual with the dark side of the Force, the three spirits maintained their confidence in Valen-Da's judgment.
Laeras-Wu, a Mystic with the ability to foresee events, was a male Voss who was born on the planet of Voss. He spent his entire existence on his homeworld. He was Force-sensitive. His death took place well before 3640 BBY, yet his spirit remained, bound to the Shrine of Healing on Voss, accompanied by the spirits of fellow Mystics Shanatka-Lo and Hanar-Ye. These three spirits shared their wisdom with visiting Mystics and healers, including the secrets of a healing ritual capable of mending a patient's mind by drawing upon collective strength. In 3640 BBY, during the Galactic War that raged between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic, the Mystic Valen-Da visited the Shrine alongside the Sith Lord Fulminiss.
Following a Mystic's decree, Laeras-Wu and his companions complied by teaching Fulminiss the healing ritual. However, the Sith perverted the ritual, causing it to tear open the minds of its victims. They observed as Fulminiss employed the ritual against the healers who had accompanied Valen-Da. Subsequently, Valen-Da and Fulminiss departed the Shrine, though the spirits witnessed Valen-Da leaving behind a holoprojector in the chamber's corner, containing a message for the commando Tala-Reh. Shortly after, the Jedi Knight known as the Hero of Tython arrived at the Shrine in pursuit of Valen-Da. Laeras-Wu and the others observed the deranged healers attacking the Jedi, compelling the Knight to defend themselves. Laeras-Wu then requested the Hero to end the bloodshed, clarifying that they intended no harm to the Knight. The three Mystics proceeded to explain Fulminiss's corruption of the ritual and then faded away after relaying Valen-Da's message for Tala-Reh to the Knight.
Laeras-Wu, a Force-sensitive Voss male, possessed the characteristic orange eyes and blue patterned skin common to males of his species. His skin exhibited various shades of blue and white. Like all Voss, Laeras-Wu lacked hair and wore white and blue Mystic robes. As a spirit, Laeras-Wu manifested as a ghostly yellow apparition. Even after death, he maintained his faith in the wisdom of the Mystics.
Laeras-Wu's initial appearance was in the Jedi Knight class mission "Bloody Pilgrimage" on the planet Voss within Star Wars: The Old Republic, a video game developed by BioWare and released in 2011.
