Liana Merian

The human individual Liana Merian functioned as an aide within the delegation that represented the planet of Alderaan. This delegation participated in the Galactic Senate of the Galactic Republic during the period of the Naboo Crisis, specifically in 32 BBY. Merian's service was alongside her fellow aides, specifically Agrippa Aldrete and Stonroy Soma, all working under the supervision of Alderaanian Senator Bail Antilles. Liana Merian possessed light-toned skin, brown eyes, and brown hair styled into buns on each side of her head, and she wore an outfit that included a white dress.

Behind the scenes

Liana Merian's character was originally conceived for inclusion in the prequel trilogy movie, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. This film was initially released to the public on May 19, 1999. The character was present in a scene that was originally filmed on B Stage at Leavesden Studios on June 30, 1997; however, this scene was ultimately removed from the movie's final cut. In the deleted scene, Merian is shown seated in a repulsorpod together with Soma, Aldrete, and Antilles within the Galactic Senate Building located on the planet Coruscant. This occurs when Queen Padmé Amidala makes a call for a Vote of No Confidence aimed at Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum. Subsequently, Antilles, known as Bail Organa during the production phase, rises to formally second the motion.

Within the established Star Wars canon timeline, the character's name was initially referenced in the 2017 published reference work titled Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia. In the context of Star Wars Legends continuity, the character Merian was first identified and named in the reference book Star Wars: Episode I The Visual Dictionary. This book was authored by David West Reynolds and released on May 26, 1999.
