Maliq was a Jedi Padawan who identified as male. He was under the tutelage of Jedi Master Rok Buran during the time of the High Republic Era. In approximately 382 BBY, Maliq participated in Outer Rim Expedition Two-Five-Two, which was Buran's Republic Pathfinder squad. This squad journeyed to the planet called Gloam for the purpose of investigating accounts of indigenous monsters. These creatures had brought an end to mining activities there. Like the rest of the team, Maliq was tricked into a dangerous situation by Rillik, a deceitful former miner who had freed the monsters from their ancient prison. Maliq suffered death as the first casualty inflicted by these monsters, leaving only Buran alive to flee. Subsequently, when Master Silandra Sho's Pathfinder team ventured to Gloam searching for the lost Pathfinders, Rooper Nitani, her Padawan, discovered Maliq's lightsaber and presented it to Buran.
