The Mining Collective functioned as a mining corporation, operating as a subsidiary of the criminal organization known as the Red Key Raiders. Their presence was felt throughout the galaxy around 4 ABY.
This Mining Collective acted as a branch of the criminal enterprise, the Red Key Raiders. They employed enforcers who typically wore uniforms featuring various shades of brown. These enforcers were equipped with helmets and carried blaster rifles. During their control of Mos Pelgo, the Collective utilized a camtono for storing valuables and a landspeeder for transportation. Their methods were brutal, exemplified by their enforcers' unprovoked massacre of unarmed patrons within Mos Pelgo's bar. They also employed slave labor, with intentions of transforming the town into a slave camp.
In 4 ABY, following the death of crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure and the subsequent departure of the Imperial Military, a power vacuum emerged on the Outer Rim desert planet Tatooine. The Mining Collective sought to exploit this situation, arriving in the small settlement of Mos Pelgo on the very night that the town celebrated the withdrawal of the Imperial forces.

The Collective's enforcers barged into the town's cantina and opened fire on the occupants. Sheriff Cobb Vanth and the bartender, Taanti, managed to escape. During his escape, Vanth absconded with a camtono filled with silicax oxalate crystals from a Collective transport. However, the rest of Mos Pelgo's inhabitants were enslaved almost immediately. The firm's occupation weakened the town, but it was short-lived, lasting only a few days. Vanth used the stolen crystals to purchase a suit of Mandalorian armor from a group of Jawas. Now equipped with this armor, which had previously belonged to the renowned bounty hunter Boba Fett, the sheriff returned to liberate the town. He entered the cantina once more and eliminated all Collective members present before exiting the building. Spotting another team of Collective members attempting to escape on a landspeeder, Vanth activated the rocket on the armor's jetpack, destroying the vehicle and its occupants.
Vanth continued to defend Mos Pelgo using the armor, confronting various adversaries, including the Red Key Raiders and Tusken Raiders. Later, while on a quest to slay a massive krayt dragon, Vanth recounted his battle against the Collective to the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin.
