Moff Nieve Gromia was a Human female Moff who was given command of the Arkanis sector with the mission to suppress the pirates that were attacking Imperial supply lines during the time of the Second Imperial Civil War.
Initially holding a significant position on Coruscant, which served as the Empire's capital planet, Nieve Gromia's assignment to the Arkanis sector as Moff occurred after a corruption incident involving her staff. She avoided being arrested by shifting the blame onto a junior officer who, conveniently for Gromia, had allegedly taken his own life. However, Gromia grew to dislike being stationed in such an unimportant location and blamed fellow Moff Nyna Calixte, believing that she had deliberately sent her to Tatooine to advance her own ambitions.
Following a string of failures by Gromia to put an end to the constant attacks by Black Sun on Imperial convoys, Director Calixte of Imperial Intelligence informed Gromia that she would be dispatching two agents to assist her in addressing the issue. These agents were revealed to be Calixte's own daughter, Gunn Yage, and Morrigan Corde.
Yage's arrival at Imperial Station Bravo, Gromia's base of operations and the former residence of Gardulla the Hutt, marked the beginning. Gromia briefed Yage, stating that the person behind the attacks was known as Luke Skywalker, but Yage corrected her, identifying the true culprit as Cade Skywalker, not Luke. Subsequently, Moff Gromia provided Yage with civilian attire and a X-34 landspeeder to facilitate her infiltration of Mos Eisley.
Shortly after their meeting, Gromia retreated to her private quarters, where she made contact with Lun Rask, a Vigo of Black Sun, with whom she had a secret agreement. Together, they devised a plan to assassinate Cade and Yage on Tatooine, with Rask providing three assassins: a Blood Carver named Ku Vrat, and an Anzati couple, Sint and Nakia Yoru.
However, Skywalker and Yage were successful in defeating all three assassins and met up with Agent Corde. Corde informed Yage about Gromia's past accusations and sent her back to Gromia's quarters. Yage attempted to arrest Gromia, who then revealed that she had obtained evidence proving that Morrigan Corde and Nyna Calixte were the same individual, although Yage did not believe her. Unwilling to be imprisoned, Gromia accidentally caused her own death during the confrontation with Yage. With her final breath, she implored Agent Yage to use the information to destroy her mother.

Unlike other Moffs and Imperial officers who served the Empire out of dedication to its principles of order or deep-seated tradition, Nieve Gromia prioritized her own personal gain above all else. Some of her colleagues suspected that she had a subordinate eliminated and used as a scapegoat when she was confronted with a corruption scandal. Embittered by her assignment to a desolate place like Tatooine, she gathered information about Nyna Calixte in an effort to seek revenge and ruin her career. Similarly, harboring resentment towards the Empire itself, she had no reservations about assisting the criminals and pirates of Black Sun to increase her own wealth. Like many of her fellow Moffs, Gromia was skilled in manipulation and betrayal, even going so far as to plot assassinations to further her own personal agendas.
Gromia also possessed extravagant tastes, indulging in luxuries such as fountains, statues, exotic birds, and plants, all of which she kept within her private quarters at Station Bravo.
According to artist Jan Duursema, Gromia's given name, Nieve, translates to "snow" in Spanish, which is "indicative of her unfeeling nature."
