Obba was a Jedi Master of the Jedi Order, flourishing during the era known as the Golden Age of the Old Republic. He was a contemporary of both Worror Dowmat and Valenthyne Farfalla. The three served together as Padawans within the Army of Light during the New Sith Wars. After surviving the aforementioned conflict, Obba gained an appointment to the Council of First Knowledge. For many years, he dedicated himself to locating and retrieving various Sith artifacts and talismans. In 990 BBY, he participated as a member of the team dispatched to apprehend the last known Sith Lord on the planet Ambria. Under the leadership of Master Tho'natu, the team journeyed to Ambria, where they were attacked by a mentally unstable Darovit, who had been driven to insanity by the Sith sorcery wielded by his cousin, Darth Zannah. Mistaking him for the Sith Lord, Tho'natu killed Darovit. Subsequently, the Jedi returned to Coruscant, bringing with them the lightsaber hilts recovered from the five Jedi who had recently perished in the confrontation against Zannah and Darth Bane on Tython.
During his time within the Jedi Order, Obba also mentored two Padawans: Medd Tandar and Set Harth. Both of these individuals assisted him in his duties related to the Council of First Knowledge. However, Harth succumbed to the corrupting influence of the Sith artifacts he unearthed during his travels. As a result, he abandoned the teachings of the Jedi Order and became a Dark Jedi. Before departing from the Jedi, he secretly retained many of the artifacts he had discovered, continuing his search for similar relics to expand his personal collection. Tandar, on the other hand, met his demise at the hands of the Huntress on Doan during her assassination of Gelba, the leader of the planet's mining caste. This occurred while Tandar was searching for a hidden cache of long-buried Sith artifacts and talismans. Following Tandar's death, Princess Serra of Doan engaged in a meeting with Obba, assuring him that the assassination had not been sanctioned by the Doan Royal House.
Obba, originally from Ithor, was eventually taken and trained by the Jedi Order as a Padawan. With the outbreak of war against the Sith, he enlisted in the Army of Light under the command of Lord Hoth. He fought alongside his comrades and survived the battles. Following the army's disbandment due to the Ruusan Reformation, he returned to Coruscant. Along with Master Tho'natu, Obba was part of a strike team dispatched to Ambria with the mission of eliminating the Sith. Upon arriving at Caleb's camp, they discovered the hilts of five Jedi who had been slain, along with a sickly individual whom they believed to be Darth Bane. In reality, this individual was a deranged Darovit, driven to madness by Darth Zannah. Master Tho'natu killed the sick Human, leading the Jedi to believe that the Sith had been eradicated.
Following the costly conflict with the Sith, the Jedi Order began a process of removing all traces of Sith lore from the galaxy. As a member of the Council of First Knowledge, Master Obba instructed numerous Jedi Knights in the techniques of securing Sith artifacts for the Council's safekeeping. After the death of his first master, Set Harth became his apprentice. Harth eventually separated himself from the Jedi Order, amassing a secret collection of Sith artifacts, and consequently turned to the Dark Side. Another apprentice of Obba's, Medd Tandar successfully completed the Jedi Trials and began working for the Council. While on a mission to Doan to retrieve a cache of talismans, Tandar was killed by the Huntress, who had been hired to assassinate a group of rebels plotting to overthrow the royal family of Doan.
Upon learning of his former apprentice's death, Obba planned to initiate a formal investigation on Doan. Wishing to avoid a conflict with the Jedi Order, the Doan Royal Family dispatched a representative, Princess Serra, to assure the Master that they would locate and bring the assassin to justice. Meeting the diplomats in his private quarters within the Tower of First Knowledge, Master Obba agreed to the terms presented by Serra, promising to postpone the investigation if the Doanians provided irrefutable evidence proving their lack of involvement.
