During the Battle of Endor, Orkin Kaw served as a male commander within the Galactic Empire and was stationed on Coruscant. Following the death of Emperor Palpatine, widespread riots broke out across Coruscant, notably in Monument Plaza. A young Coruscanti boy of twelve named Jak witnessed Commander Kaw kill his father, Rorak, during these events. Seeking the favor of Level 1313 crime lord Talvee Chawin, Jak later orchestrated a rescue of Lazula from police custody; Lazula was Chawin's associate. Using this favor, Jak acquired an EMP device, which he strategically placed at the deserted Dex's Diner. This device was intended to disrupt the power supply utilized by Imperial troops under Commander Kaw, who were engaged in combat with the Rebels for dominance over CoCo Town. Jak's ultimate objective was to exploit this disruption to assassinate Kaw, avenging his father's death.
