Palace library

The expansive palace library, adorned with marble tiles, was situated within the royal palace of the Pijali monarchy on the Inner Rim planet of Pijal. During 40 BBY, within the confines of this library, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, engaged in a discussion regarding the Czerka Corporation's manipulation of the Pijal system census's data; they juxtaposed the altered figures with the original local tallies stored there. Subsequently, Kenobi made a return visit to the library to establish contact with the Jedi High Council via a comm terminal.

Description

The Pijali monarchy's palace library was situated inside the expansive royal palace on the Inner Rim planet of Pijal. By the time of the Republic Era, the library had largely been abandoned, and much of its equipment was covered in dust as a result. The expansive library, featuring marble tiling, contained a number of windows, data solids, and holographic comm terminals.

History

Obi-Wan Kenobi contacted the Jedi High Council via hologram in the palace library.

Around 40 BBY, a census was conducted in the Pijal system, and the library became the repository for both the official overall results and the tallies collected locally. Shortly thereafter, officials from the Czerka Corporation acquired the official results and altered them, decreasing the population count of Pijal's moon.

During a mission to Pijal in 40 BBY, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, convened in the palace library to deliberate on the census results and their utilization in drafting the Governance Treaty, an initiative intended to establish a representative Assembly based on the census's proportional representation of Pijali citizens. While examining Czerka's modifications to the census's original data, both Jedi were concerned about being overheard. Subsequently, Jinn declined to ratify the Governance Treaty on behalf of the Galactic Republic, citing Czerka's corruption and his disturbing dreams that forewarned potential issues if the initiative moved forward. Later that night, Kenobi returned to the library to communicate with the Jedi High Council through a comm terminal, expressing his dissatisfaction with Jinn's refusal to fulfill their mission mandate. Following the Padawan's discussion with the Masters, he was designated as the Republic's ratifier, replacing Jinn.
