The species of Peeples was a species of sentient beings characterized by having nineteen eyes and a snout-shaped proboscis. A peculiar trait of this species was their unique sense of comedic timing. In the year 232 BBY, an individual named Peeples, who belonged to this species, held the rank of Ensign within the Galactic Republic. He served on the Longbeam cruiser known as Aurora IX, which was part of the Republic Defense Coalition. During a disaster that occurred in the Hetzal system, he played a role in the rescue of personnel from a damaged solar collection station, leading to his subsequent promotion to lieutenant.
The sentient species of Peeples possessed nineteen eyes and a snout-like proboscis that functioned as a nose. These aliens characteristically vibrated their proboscis before initiating speech. Furthermore, the proboscis could vibrate intensely when perceiving certain scents. Members of this species also possessed a mouth, at least one pair of arms, and at least one toe. When experiencing frustration, they released pheromones detectable by the head tentacles of the Nautolan species. The voice of Peeples was noted for its high-pitched, reedy quality.
The species to which Peeples belonged possessed a highly distinctive understanding of humor, particularly concerning the appropriate timing for delivering jokes—which the Nautolan Finial Bright often found to be of reasonable quality. Instead of a shrug, Peeples would execute a movement that Bright perceived as a strange, involuntary twitch.

By 232 BBY, Peeples was serving as an ensign in the Galactic Republic's Republic Defense Coalition. During that year, he was stationed on the Longbeam cruiser Aurora IX, serving under the command of the Nautolan captain Finial Bright, along with the human Petty Officer Innamin. The cruiser was part of the Third Horizon, an Emissary-class Republic Cruiser, which journeyed to the Hetzal system in the Outer Rim Territories following the emergence of debris from the destroyed freighter Legacy Run from hyperspace at near-lightspeed, leading to catastrophic consequences.
As part of the crew of the Aurora IX, Peeples participated in the rescue of personnel stationed at a damaged solar collection station within the star system. This action led to his subsequent promotion to the rank of lieutenant. Later, he aided the Republic in the construction of an array of interconnected navidroids designed to predict the appearance of the Legacy Run's wreckage in various star systems. He also attended the dedication ceremony for the Republic's Starlight Beacon space station.
The species of Peeples was conceived for the 2021 novel Light of the Jedi, authored by Charles Soule as a component of Phase I of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia initiative. Before the publication of Light of the Jedi, a chapter featuring the species was released in the December 12, 2020 edition of The High Republic Free Digital Sampler.
