Piers Petan

Piers Petan, a Rear Admiral of the Galactic Alliance Defense Fleet during the Sith–Imperial War, was a Human. The Battle of Caamas saw Petan deceived by Imperial forces, resulting in his defeat and, consequently, the downfall of the Galactic Alliance.

Biography

Petan, a Human holding the rank of Rear Admiral within the Galactic Alliance, put forth a scheme in 130 ABY. This plan was presented to the Triumvirate and involved an assault intended to either eliminate or capture Emperor Roan Fel, who was believed to be meeting with representatives from the Chiss Ascendancy and the Hapes Consortium.

Despite the rejection of the plan by Triumvirs Gial Gahan, Admiral Gar Stazi, and Jedi Master Kol Skywalker—all of whom correctly sensed a deception—Ithorian Triumvir Nu Toreena and Petan managed to persuade the third Triumvir, Bail Antilles, to proceed with the offensive. Because Stazi had not endorsed Petan's strategies, the rear admiral relegated Stazi and his fleet to the rear of the attack force.

The battle that ensued saw the Galactic Alliance ensnared in the Imperial ambush, leading to a decisive defeat. Petan accepted the surrender terms offered by Grand Admiral Morlish Veed and commanded the entire fleet to comply. However, Admiral Stazi defied the order to surrender and escaped, continuing the struggle as the leader of a resistance movement.
