Video game
The video game series called Jedi Knight introduced us to Kyle Katarn, a Jedi Master, and his apprentice, Jaden Korr. A video game is defined as any interactive gaming software, whether played on a console, or a computer, where the primary feedback is a video display. ## Game genres - First-person shooter (FPS) games are computer or video games where the player experiences the game through the eyes of their character. These games commonly involve guns and other weapons for combat. Examples include Star Wars: Dark Forces and its sequels, along with Star Wars: Republic Commando. For more examples, see Category:First-person shooters. - Flight simulators are games that allow the player to take control of an aircraft or spacecraft, facing off against enemies or navigating obstacles. The X-wing and TIE Fighter series, the Rogue Squadron series, the Starfighter series, and Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed all fall into this category. - Real-time strategy (RTS) games are typically computer games where players observe and control multiple characters from an overhead perspective. In RTS games, players usually direct groups of units without directly engaging in combat themselves. Some examples are Star Wars: Rebellion, Star Wars: Force Commander, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, and Star Wars: Empire at War. - Role-playing games (RPGs) are video or computer games where the player controls a character from a third-person view, making choices that influence the game's narrative. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords are examples of RPGs. They share similarities with tabletop roleplaying games. - Massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) are online games in which players assume the roles of characters and interact with each other on a large scale. These games often include diverse environments and numerous non-player characters (NPCs) to create a more immersive experience. Examples include Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, and Star Wars: The Old Republic. ## Star Wars Games Listed Chronologically ### 1980s #### 1982 - Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back holds the distinction of being the first Star Wars video game.
