Biography

During the High Republic Era, specifically in 231 BBY, Preeti, a human female Jedi Padawan, was a member of the Jedi Order serving on the Starlight Beacon space station located in the Galactic Frontier. She was stationed in the quartermaster's office, reporting to Jedi Master Nubarron, who was the station's quartermaster. After the attack on Valo occurred in the same year, Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh and her Padawan, Imri Cantaros, went to the quartermaster's office on Starlight Beacon to request a ship to travel to the planet Coruscant. When Rwoh and Cantaros arrived, Preeti was observed to be nervously typing on a terminal screen, appearing frightened with wide-eyed anxiety.
Cantaros and Preeti then exchanged brief, polite greetings before Cantaros introduced Preeti to his Master. Rwoh did not recognize Preeti and assumed she was new to the station. Preeti had previously heard about Rwoh completing her Jedi Trials at the young age of fifteen, and her eyes widened as she mentioned this. Rwoh unintentionally brushed aside the comment and stated the reason for their visit, inquiring about a ship for her and her Padawan to use for their trip to Coruscant. Preeti apologized and informed Rwoh that she was not authorized to receive a ship, explaining that Nubarron had issued a ban preventing her from acquiring one.

Nubarron, who had been hovering near the ceiling of the quartermaster's office and previously unnoticed by Rwoh, then confirmed their denial of a ship for Rwoh to prevent her from destroying another one. Cantaros, attempting to assist his Master in reasoning with Nubarron, pointed out that the Nihil had shot down one of the Jedi Vectors assigned to Rwoh, and it was not directly destroyed by her. This comment caused Preeti to wince, mirroring Rwoh's feelings.
Shortly after, Jedi Master Cohmac Vitus and his Padawan, Reath Silas, entered the quartermaster's office and offered Rwoh and Cantaros a ride to Coruscant, as Vitus and Silas were already planning to travel there. With Rwoh and Cantaros' problem resolved and Nubarron satisfied, Preeti authorized Vitus to use the Fraunesaa, an old hauler that had been confiscated from a Hutt enslaver who was intercepted when he was forced to land on Starlight Beacon.
Personality and traits
Preeti was described as being small for her age, possessing burnished brown skin, brown eyes, and straight black hair styled in a short, angular cut with her Padawan braid reaching only to her shoulders. She admired the Padawan Imri Cantaros, an observation made by Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh, based on her rosy cheeks and wide smile displaying all her teeth after Cantaros briefly greeted her in the quartermaster's office. Rwoh also noted that Preeti appeared to be quite nervous.
Equipment
Preeti's workspace was equipped with a terminal inside the quartermaster's office on Starlight Beacon. She utilized the terminal's screen to authorize starships for individuals requiring transports.
Behind the scenes
Preeti's initial appearance was in the 2021 young-adult novel titled The High Republic: Out of the Shadows, authored by Justina Ireland. This novel was released as a component of Phase I of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project.
