R-A7

R-A7, a protocol droid of the RA-7 series, was built by Arakyd Industries and provided service at the Republic Center for Military Operations on Coruscant during the Clone Wars. During 19 BBY, it and an astromech droid crossed paths with Ahsoka Tano, a Padawan who was escaping from custody at the military base.

Biography

An RA-7 protocol droid constructed by Arakyd Industries, R-A7 served the Grand Army of the Republic at the Republic Center for Military Operations located on Coruscant during the Clone Wars. During the year of 19 BBY, R-A7 and the astromech droid MR-T3 were engaged in conversation, R-A7 using the language of Kyhhhsik while the other droid communicated in binary. Their discussion was cut short when they turned a corner and inadvertently blocked the path of Ahsoka Tano, a Padawan. As a fugitive escaping custody from the Republic military base, she leaped over MR-T3, causing it to spin, while an annoyed R-A7 shook its fist at the Jedi as she fled down the corridor.

Characteristics

R-A7 was 1.7 meters tall, with black plating accented by silver. It featured two broadband photoreceptors equipped with antiglare coating, as well as an interface connection port located on the left side of its chest.

Behind the scenes

R-A7 made its debut in "The Jedi Who Knew Too Much," the eighteenth episode of the fifth season of the canon animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which originally aired on February 16, 2013. Terrence Carson provided the voice, credited as a "mechanical voice." Although R-A7 was not named within the episode itself, it was identified in a character illustration by Chris Glenn featured in the Episode Guide for "The Jedi Who Knew Too Much" on StarWars.com, dated November 2011. Its character model was a modified version of 4-A7's, updated to more closely resemble the RA-7 protocol droids seen in the 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
