Reeche

Reeche, a city, was situated on Hanoon, a terraformed asteroid under the control of the Galactic Empire. By the year 6 ABY, the city had been established adjacent to one of the planet's canals. Within the city's limits were a Command center, an animal nursery, and prefab shelters. The inhabitants of the city possessed a fragment of the Vor'Na'Tu, an ancient Jedi artifact, which they revered as a relic. In that year, Luke Skywalker, the future Jedi Master, accompanied by his sister Leia Organa and a New Republic army, ventured to Hanoon with the goal of retrieving the artifact's remaining pieces. They traveled to Reeche, where the city consented to surrender the shard in exchange for a payment of 500 units of carbon and 500 units of nova crystals.

After the Republic forces supplied Reeche with the demanded payment, the city relinquished its shard. Subsequently, Organa and Skywalker made the decision to liberate the remainder of the asteroid and took control of the Terraform Processor. Following the downfall of Moff Yittreas, Hanoon agreed to become part of the New Republic.

Behind the scenes

The first mention of Reeche occurred within the pages of the strategy guide accompanying the video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, released in 2001. It made an appearance during a mission in the Princess Leia campaign, where the player is required to provide the town with the requested resources to progress. These resources could be acquired by the player's R2-D5 labor droids or through the use of cheat codes. This mission, and therefore Reeche, was also featured in the game's 2002 expansion, Clone Campaigns.
