Reed

Reed, a male human, served the New Republic as an X-wing pilot. Within the New Republic Starfighter Corps, he achieved the rank of lieutenant. While patrolling above Tatooine, a planet, he partnered with Captain Carson Teva. During this patrol, they intercepted a rebuilt N-1 starfighter being piloted by Din Djarin, a Mandalorian. The lieutenant then made an attempt to gather information on the N-1's pilot.

Teva intervened, overriding Reed, and released Djarin with only a warning. Recognizing the Mandalorian's voice, the captain linked him to a previous incident and requested to question Djarin; however, Djarin accelerated away from the New Republic pilots. Reed incorrectly believed Djarin had entered hyperspace and pondered whether reporting the N-1 starfighter was worthwhile, but Teva mentioned the tedious task of completing reports at their base.

Biography

Reed pilots his X-wing to the port side of Djarin's N-1 starfighter.

During the New Republic era, Reed functioned as a pilot for the New Republic Starfighter Corps, holding the rank of lieutenant. Around 9 ABY, he and Captain Carson Teva were on patrol near the desert planet Tatooine. They were flying T-65B X-wing starfighters when they observed a rebuilt N-1 starfighter quickly passing by a passenger liner. Reed and Teva stopped the starfighter, and the lieutenant requested that the Mandalorian Din Djarin, the pilot of the N-1's, activate the fighter's beacon. When Djarin inquired about his offense, Reed stated that flying at such speeds near a commercial starship or without a beacon was prohibited.

After Djarin apologized to Reed and activated his beacon, the lieutenant observed that the N-1 starfighter's engine model was inconsistent with its power drive. The Mandalorian claimed his fighter was newly constructed, undergoing testing, and lacked an updated registry. Reed requested a ping from Djarin, but was informed that the fighter was not yet equipped for it. Consequently, Reed advised the Mandalorian to relinquish control of his flight controls for remote piloting by the New Republic fighters. However, Teva intervened, overriding Reed and releasing Djarin with a warning. Recognizing the Mandalorian's voice from a previous encounter, the captain associated Djarin with an incident on the planet Nevarro.

Reed was stunned by the speed of Djarin's fighter.

Following Teva's request for Djarin to answer some questions, the Mandalorian engaged his fighter's sublight thrusters and rapidly departed from Reed and the captain. Reed initially assumed the starfighter had entered hyperspace, but Teva clarified that thrusters were used. Reed questioned the necessity of reporting the N-1 fighter, but Teva sarcastically inquired whether he desired to spend the day completing reports at their base, which the lieutenant declined.

Later, Teva contacted Reed after discovering a wrecked Lambda-class T-4a shuttle with a compromised hull. At Teva's request, Reed located a record of a missing ship in the vicinity, the details of which were classified. Consequently, Teva instructed his astromech R7 to deploy a probe droid to examine the wreckage. The pilot also transmitted the shuttle's transponder signal to Reed for a review of the flight logs at central command. Reed determined that it was a New Republic prison transport, and Teva's probe uncovered the remains of New Republic corrections officers.

Reed examined the Lamdba shuttle's departure times and discovered that they corresponded with those of the starship transporting Moff Gideon, thus confirming the rumors that the warlord never reached trial. With no survivors and no trace of Gideon's body, the captain concluded that it was an extraction. Teva conducted a scan within the shuttle using the probe to identify the attackers, revealing a fragment of beskar alloy embedded in the cabin wall, suggesting the involvement of Mandalorians.
