Imperial Executive Building

title: Imperial Executive Building

The Imperial Executive Building, alternatively known as the Senate Office Building, was a domed structure providing office space. It was situated in proximity to the Imperial Senate Building on the planet of Coruscant. During the era of the Galactic Republic, it was also commonly known as the Republic executive building or the Senate executive building. Within this building were the offices of various members of the Galactic Senate, including the office belonging to Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine. The upper levels of the building were equipped with a series of landing bays.

During the Clone Wars, Chancellor Palpatine used the executive building as his base of operations to command the Republic's military operations. When the Jedi Order uncovered Palpatine's secret identity as the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, a group of four Jedi Masters, specifically Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, Saesee Tiin, and Agen Kolar, made an attempt to apprehend him within his office. Palpatine confronted them in a lightsaber duel, killing three Jedi before Windu gained the upper hand. However, just before Windu could deliver the final blow, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker barged into the Chancellor's office, insisting that Palpatine be taken alive because he believed Palpatine possessed the power to save Skywalker's wife, Padmé Amidala. Windu argued that Palpatine was too dangerous to be left alive, but Skywalker intervened, severing Windu's arm. This allowed Palpatine to unleash Force lightning upon Windu, throwing him out of the window and resulting in his death. Following Windu's death and Skywalker's seduction by the dark side of the Force, Sidious, from within the executive building, issued Order 66 to the clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic, declaring all Jedi to be enemies of the Republic.
