Sacrifice is the fourth cinematic trailer that BioWare produced for the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic. This trailer acts as the unveiling for the expansion pack, Knights of the Fallen Empire. The video, which was made available to the public on June 16, 2015, tells the tale of Arcann and Thexan, who are the twin heirs of Valkorion, the Emperor who rules the Eternal Empire. Shown at E3 2015, the trailer has a duration of four minutes and twenty-three seconds. A 4K version of the trailer was subsequently re-released on November 13, 2021.
Years prior to the events of the Galactic War, Valkorion, the Emperor of the Eternal Empire, is seen observing the cradles of his twin sons Arcann and Thexan without any discernible emotion, before proceeding to depart. Later, the narrative shifts to the young princes as teenage boys engaged in playful combat within a [grass](/article/grass-legends]-filled field, utilizing wooden sticks as makeshift swords.
At a later time, Valkorion oversees a sparring session with quarterstaffs involving Arcann, Thexan, and several Knights of Zakuul. Upon witnessing Arcann being defeated by an opponent, Thexan promptly intervenes to assist his brother, using the Force to push one of the Knights away and subsequently defeating the remaining Knights with his quarterstaff. Following Thexan's assistance in helping Arcann regain his feet, both twins notice their father's silent departure from the training area. Subsequently, the brothers are depicted in a dimly lit room, where Thexan assembles and activates a lightsaber.
Several years later, as the Eternal Empire's forces prepare to launch attacks on both the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, Arcann and Thexan, now highly proficient lightsaber combatants, are shown kneeling before Valkorion in his throne room, which is situated within the Spire on the planet Zakuul. They then depart to spearhead the military campaign. Valkorion, instead of acknowledging his sons, directs his gaze through the throne room's viewport, causing visible disappointment in Arcann. Subsequently, the twin princes personally command the Eternal Fleet and the Knights of Zakuul in a series of assaults against the Republic and Sith forces across various planets. The forces of the Eternal Empire triumph over Republic troopers and Sith Warriors, with Thexan killing a Jedi on one of these battlefields. Following a battle in a blizzard, the brothers engage in communication with their father via hologram, after which Arcann angrily uses the Force to knock the holoprojector away.
Subsequently, Arcann and Thexan lead an assault on Korriban, the holy world of the Sith, where the Twi'lek female Sith Darth Atroxa is in charge of the defending forces. Arcann sustains significant injuries during the conflict, including the loss of his left arm. Thexan provides comfort to him as a prosthetic limb is attached. Shortly thereafter, Arcann uses his enhanced strength to eliminate several Sith warriors and Darth Atroxa herself. Following this, the brothers board a shuttle and depart from the planet.
Upon the twin princes' arrival at Valkorion's throne room, they present banners and lightsabers seized from the defeated Republic and Sith forces as trophies to the Emperor. However, he displays no emotion and turns away from the brothers, which infuriates Arcann to the point where one of his eyes begins to glow orange due to the influence of the dark side of the Force. He then charges and jumps at Valkorion with his lightsaber ignited. However, Thexan uses telekinesis to restrain Arcann before he can deliver the fatal blow, leading to a brief lightsaber duel between the brothers, during which the enraged Arcann fatally wounds Thexan. Realizing the gravity of his actions, Arcann cradles his dying brother in grief. Simultaneously, Valkorion approaches the scene of the brothers' conflict, extends his hand toward Arcann, addresses him as "son," and invites him to join him.

"Sacrifice," the 4:23 minute cinematic trailer promoting the Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Fallen Empire video game, was made available to the public on June 15, 2015. Darth Malgus, a key antagonist from the original game, was initially planned to be featured in the cinematic, with his body encased in carbonite as Arcann and Thexan presented him to Valkorion. This particular scene was removed but later revealed, along with accompanying concept art, during the San Diego Comic Con 2015 Cantina Tour, which was a fan-oriented event hosted by Bioware. Darth Malgus did not make an appearance in the game expansion itself, aside from a few mentions.
