Samhan Dobo

Samhan Dobo was a Duros individual of male gender, active as a merchant residing on Citadel Station orbiting Telos IV around 3951 BBY. Alongside his sibling, Dendis, he was a co-owner of the Dobo Brothers' Emporium; despite sharing the same module for their businesses, deep-seated animosity existed between them regarding their respective business practices. Samhan, much to his brother's dismay, utilized their shared establishment to conduct an illegal smuggling operation, dealing in illicitly modified items such as blasters with entities like the Exchange. In contrast to Dendis, who exclusively traded in medical items and pazaak cards, Samhan offered a variety of weaponry, including vibroblades, blasters, and grenades, in addition to a range of armor and associated enhancements.

Biography

At the time of the destruction event that occurred on Peragus II in 3951 BBY, Dobo was actively managing his portion of the Dobo Brothers' Emporium, in conjunction with his brother, Dendis. Moreover, he maintained substantial involvement in an unlawful smuggling network operating from Citadel Station, which was in orbit around the planet Telos IV. This network facilitated the covert distribution of prohibited weapons and weapon components to the Bumani Exchange Corporation, serving as the local facade for the Exchange, a widespread criminal organization across the galaxy. Furthermore, Jana Lorso, who directed the local Czerka division, employed Dobo to transport undisclosed goods on her behalf. Lieutenant Dol Grenn of the Telos Security Force had long suspected the presence of black market activities transpiring on the Station; however, he lacked definitive proof to substantiate these suspicions and, consequently, bring Dobo to justice.

When Meetra Surik, a former Jedi Knight, was in the process of acquiring a droid for an Ithorian herd on Citadel Station, she was attacked by a group of hired thugs. Following the altercation, the droid discovered a modified holdout blaster on one of the defeated thugs, which was then presented to Grenn. The Lieutenant recognized this as the crucial evidence needed to dismantle the illicit market. Grenn then enlisted Surik's assistance in identifying the individual or individuals responsible for orchestrating the operation. After presenting the blaster to Dobo, Surik successfully convinced him to admit his role as the leader of the local smuggling ring. Surik then agreed to support Grenn's objective by providing Dobo with the necessary resources for his upcoming illegal delivery. This strategic move enabled the TSF officer to apprehend Dobo in the midst of his illicit activities. Following a brief battle during which Dobo launched a grenade at the approaching TSF officers, he ultimately surrendered, was taken into custody, and confined within a force cage located at TSF headquarters. He vowed to one day escape and inflict retribution upon Surik.

Personality and traits

Dobo, functioning both as a businessman and a smuggler, consistently demonstrated a notable degree of pragmatism. While his brother, Dendis, adhered to an idealistic approach, insisting on conducting business through strictly legitimate means, Samhan operated without such constraints, engaging with anyone who could increase his profits. Consequently, the two brothers maintained a contentious relationship, often engaging in disputes even in the presence of customers. Furthermore, he was known to exhibit irritability, contentiousness, and vindictiveness; upon his arrest by the TSF, he swore to avenge himself against those who had orchestrated his downfall, including the Exile.

Behind the scenes

Samhan Dobo originated as a character within Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, a video game developed by Obsidian Entertainment. Meetra Surik, the character controlled by the player, could have chosen the aforementioned course of action or, alternatively, provided actual assistance to Dobo with his shipments. Should the latter path be selected, he would compensate Surik with credits and grant access to his "special reserves." Subsequently, she could accompany him to one of the docking bays on Citadel Station, where they would encounter a TSF officer. If Surik fails to convince the officer of her intention to expose Dobo, she would be compelled to kill the officer. This course of action results in a shift toward the dark side, and is therefore considered non-canon in contrast to the light side option detailed in the sections above.

During the Battle of Telos IV, an exploration of the TSF station by the player reveals Dobo's force cage to be unoccupied; he may have been killed, relocated to another cell, or escaped amidst the chaos.
