Shun-rai

Seyn Marana rear Seyn Marana, as shown in the image, was present at the shun-rai held to remember Sadori Vusahn. The shun-rai, which translates from the Kage language to funeral meal in the widely spoken Basic tongue, represented a funerary custom practiced by the Kage species, who are considered near-human. The Kage would eat the food that their dead relative favored as a way of honoring them, and they believed the deceased's spirit would join them.

Sadori Vushan, a Kage Warrior who fought with the Dreamers partisan rebel group, died on a mission to the planet of Anukara in 0 ABY. Following his death, his parents, Ru and Halia Vushan, observed a shun-rai for him at the Dreamers' encampment located on Jeosyn. The family made a meal that was intended to resemble Sadori's preferred dishes and asked Seyn Marana, a Dreamer who had become close to Sadori before his death, to participate. Unbeknownst to them, Marana was secretly working as an undercover agent for the Galactic Empire. Marana was pleased to accept their invitation, and as her secret partner Iden Versio observed her joining the Vushans, the Dreamers' commander, Lux Bonteri, explained the meaning of the shun-rai to Versio.
