Sib Canay

Sib Canay, a Neimoidian of the male persuasion, functioned as an officer within the Trade Federation during the Clone Wars conflict. He held command over the blockade surrounding Pantora, secretly aiming to compel the moon to align with the Separatist Alliance. To achieve this, he engaged a bounty hunter to perform the kidnapping of the daughters belonging to Pantoran Supreme Chairman Notluwiski Papanoida, with the intent of amplifying pressure on the Pantoran Assembly. One of these daughters, specifically Che Amanwe, was held captive aboard his flagship.

During the course of the blockade, he granted access to his battleship to Pantoran Senator Riyo Chuchi along with her apparent servant, supposedly for negotiation. However, the servant was actually Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano, whose real objective was to rescue the Chairman's daughter. He confronted the three with a platoon consisting of battle droids, but he was ultimately defeated. In the presence of his own troops, Canay admitted to Tano's accusations of conspiring with the Separatists, and he consented to ending the blockade. In the aftermath, Senator Lott Dod publicly disavowed Canay's actions in the Senate, asserting that they were "of his own accord" and a consequence of "Nute Gunray's influence."

Biography

Sib Canay negotiating with chairman Notluwiski Papanoida.

In the year 21 BBY, Sib Canay, a Neimoidian male originating from Cato Neimoidia, was dispatched to the Pantora system to oversee a blockade that was imposed upon the planet Pantora from his battleship. Later, as the blockade continued, Canay received a visit from Pantoran Senator Riyo Chuchi and her servant; upon their arrival, Canay greeted them and inquired whether the chairman of Pantora had conceded to "their terms," which was not the case. Chuchi subsequently implied that Pantora might join the [Separatist Alliance](/article/confederacy_of_independent_systems], after which Canay extended an invitation for her and the senator's servant to retire to their quarters. While the newcomers were en route to their rooms, Tano and Chuchi created a diversion for a Neimoidian Royal Guard and gained entry to the meetings room.

Subsequently, Canay and another Neimoidian entered the room, engaged in a discussion about the kidnapping of the Pantoran chairman's daughters. During this conversation, Canay acknowledged that he understood the other's potential profit margins with the separatists could be substantial, but he still disapproved of the kidnapping. The other Neimoidian attempted to brush aside Canay's concerns, but an angered Canay exclaimed, "why the daughters were on his ship," causing Chuchi, who was concealed beneath the meetings room's desk, to gasp audibly. As the Neimoidians searched for them within the room, they managed to escape and flee to the detention block. There, Tano employed a mind trick on a Neimoidian guard, which then allowed them entry into the detention block, granting them the opportunity to search for the Papanoidas. On the ship's bridge, a B1-series battle droid notified Canay of the visitors' whereabouts, prompting Canay to remark that "they were a little too curious for their own good," and he proceeded to order their arrest with several B2-series super battle droids, which Tano destroyed. After defeating Canay, several Neimoidian guards along with the Neimoidian envoy attempted to arrest Tano, there Canay stated that he wanted his litigator. However, Chuchi used blackmail to force the envoy to surrender and free Papanoida's daughters, defeating the Neimoidians.
