Following the First Battle of Geonosis by a period of nine months, scientists under the command of Separatist leader Count Dooku successfully infiltrated the Republic HoloNet. After the rise of the Galactic Empire by a period of eight years, on the planet known as Gorse, the demolition expert named Skelly constructed all his computers using component kits. This was done to protect them from being sliced while he gathered proof that the Empire's ongoing mining activities on Gorse's moon called Cynda would lead to its destruction. Zaluna Myder, who served as a shift leader at the surveillance firm Transcept Media Solutions located on Gorse, possessed the ability to slice into various Imperial networks. Myder joined forces with Skelly, Kanan Jarrus, and Hera Syndulla during a mission aimed at thwarting Count Denetrius Vidian's scheme to obliterate Cynda. She demonstrated her skills by slicing into surveillance and communication systems, utilizing specialized equipment for this purpose. However, when the group had the chance to examine files extracted from Vidian's cybernetically enhanced brain, Myder was unable to decode one of the files, claiming she lacked slicer expertise. During a confrontation with Vidian, Myder's gear accidentally fell from her bag, leading the Count to suspect that she was indeed a slicer.
Sabine Wren had slicing abilities. In addition, Master Codebreaker and DJ were professional slicers, with the latter able to deploy a slicer virus to achieve his goals. Carise Sindian, a Centrist senator and First Order agent, also appeared to have employed the services of at least one proficient slicer. She used these services to incriminate her political rival, Senator Ransolm Casterfo, by fabricating evidence that suggested he had connections to the Amaxine warriors.
