Spark-roaches constituted a specific species inhabiting a cavern within Vader's castle. During the time that Vaneé, the personal servant of Darth Vader, found himself imprisoned in this pit by his master, spark-roaches provided Vaneé with both his sole source of sustenance and his only companionship. Following the Battle of Endor, when the Mustafarians Giggek and Tuttel liberated him from his confinement, Vaneé voiced his gratitude by thanking Locphet and disclosing that his diet and company had consisted solely of spark-roaches. Vader's aide then added, in a hushed tone, that he derived satisfaction from consuming these creatures, a statement that elicited a reaction of revulsion from Tuttel.
