Statue of Tarre Vizsla

A sculpture depicting Tarre Vizsla was situated on Mandalore, the homeworld of the Mandalorian people, located in the Outer Rim. This statue served as a tribute to Tarre Vizsla, a historic leader of Mandalore and the inaugural Mandalorian to become a member of the Jedi Order. This imposing, sculpted representation of Vizsla stood as a beacon of hope for all Mandalorians, acknowledging their rich heritage.

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Imperial forces in occupation commandeered the statue, repurposing it as a military base. However, in 2 BBY, Sabine and Tristan Wren, both Mandalorians, successfully liberated the monument.

Description

Tarre Vizsla's likeness was immortalized by the statue.

The impressively-carved statue of Tarre Vizsla, measuring 93 meters (305 feet in height, was erected in the desert landscape of the Outer Rim planet Mandalore. It was constructed to honor Tarre Vizsla, the very first Mandalorian to be initiated into the Jedi Order and a highly regarded former leader of Mandalore. Symbolizing both hope and historical significance, the statue portrayed Vizsla adorned in armor and a cloak, wielding the Darksaber, Vizsla's renowned weapon that embodied leadership within Mandalorian society. Notably, Vizsla was depicted not raising the blade triumphantly, but instead pointing it downwards towards the ground, symbolically referencing the Mandalorian homeworld's soil. This colossal statue was positioned near a major thoroughfare and remained visible for years, observable from a considerable distance.

History

Sabine and Tristan Wren discovered the Imperials had taken over the statue.

When Sabine Wren was a child, she visited the statue with her father, [Alrich Wren](/article/alrich_wren], an experience she remembered fondly in later years. During the Imperial Era, the Galactic Empire established a militarized base on the statue, effectively desecrating it. During a clandestine operation on Mandalore in 2 BBY, Sabine, by now a rebel fighter, and her brother Tristan Wren discovered that stormtroopers and Imperial fortifications had been erected on the statue. Sabine, wielding the Darksaber herself, joined Tristan in the destruction of the outpost, thereby restoring the statue to its original form. The statue of Vizsla was mentioned in "Mandalorians Through the Ages," a published work by the historian Eloc Throno.
