The stealth ship, a prototype IPV-2C Stealth Corvette, served the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars. Notably, the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker piloted it to penetrate the blockade that Admiral Trench had established around the planet Christophsis.
Sienar Design Systems originally conceived the stealth ship for the Galactic Republic's Navy. Its design featured a triangular shape, a modular hull construction, and a total length of 99.7 meters (equivalent to 327 feet).
During its time in service to the Republic, the vessel lacked a hyperdrive system, and it was designed to be transported within the hangar bay of a Venator-class Star Destroyer.
Shortly after the Battle of Geonosis, amidst the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Separatist forces invaded and seized control of the Outer Rim Territories planet Christophsis. In anticipation of a Republic counter-offensive, the Separatists deployed a thirty-ship armada, commanded by Harch Admiral [Trench](/article/trench], to establish a blockade around the planet. Simultaneously, on the planet's surface, General Worm Loathsom was attempting to thwart Bail Organa's relief efforts. Kenobi instructed Skywalker and Yularen to utilize the stealth ship to deliver essential supplies to Senator Organa, who was planetside. However, Skywalker defied these instructions and instead attempted a surprise attack on Trench's flagship, the Providence-class Dreadnought known as the Invincible. He deactivated the ship's cloaking device and launched proton torpedoes towards the Invincible's bridge. However, the Invincible's thermal shields successfully intercepted the torpedoes. Trench then communicated openly, stating that he had previously encountered stealth ships. Skywalker contacted Kenobi from the stealth ship. Kenobi then examined Admiral Trench's military records, and found that Trench utilized magnetic signatures to track ships using cloaking devices. The ship then launched four more torpedoes. As the cloaking devices were reactivating, the Invincible locked onto the ship's magnetic signature. The Invincible then deactivated its own shields and launched tracking torpedoes. Subsequently, the ship deactivated its cloaking system, redirected all available power to the engines, and maneuvered towards the bridge. The missiles impacted the unprotected bridge, resulting in the destruction of the Invincible, effectively breaking the blockade and enabling Republic forces to reach the planet's surface.
Years later, the design of Wilhuff Tarkin's personal starship, the Carrion Spike, drew inspiration from the stealth ship's design.
The stealth ship made its debut in Cat and Mouse, a 2010 episode from the second season of the animated television show Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon 96 asserted that the stealth ship underwent modifications and was repurposed into the Carrion Spike, a vessel inspired by the stealth ship that was introduced in the 2014 novel Tarkin. However, this claim contradicts the timeline of the ship's appearance in Darth Vader Annual 2, and the 2024 reference book Star Wars Encyclopedia: The Comprehensive Guide to the Star Wars Galaxy explicitly verified that the two are distinct vessels.
