Thurian trees were towering trees with green foliage that grew on the Outer Rim planet known as Chandar's Folly. In 14 BBY, while present on Chandar's Folly, Governor Wilhuff Tarkin headed up a group with the purpose of hunting down the Sith Lord Darth Vader, and some of these trees were located close to their campsite. On the second day of their hunt, the group followed Vader to a small forest of thurian trees. They used flamethrowers to encircle him, setting the Sith Lord ablaze with flames; however, Vader managed to flee the location.
The comic-book series Star Wars: Darth Vader (2017) featured thurian trees in its eighteenth issue. Marvel Comics released the issue, which was penned by Charles Soule and visually designed by Giuseppe Camuncoli, on July 11, 2018.
