A sizable bronze bell, known as a Toydarian clan bell, was utilized by members of the Toydarian species. These beings originated from Toydaria, a planet characterized by its swamp environment. By the year 32 BBY, Watto, a junk dealer of Toydarian descent, had acquired a clan bell. This bell symbolized a distinguished family lineage. Watto displayed it prominently, suspending it above his nesting area within the roof of his junkshop situated in the city of Mos Espa on Tatooine. When Qui-Gon Jinn, a Jedi Master, visited the shop alongside a group searching for a T-14 hyperdrive generator, the bell was visible. Three sheets of polyfibre netting were hanging from it, aiding in the maintenance of a lake-like atmosphere within the nest.
Within established Star Wars canon, the reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations (2016) makes mention of a Toydarian clan bell. This information was a reprint from Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I, a 2000 reference book. Kristin Lund authored the book, while Richard Chasemore and Hans Jenssen provided the illustrations. This marked the bell's initial appearance in the Star Wars Legends continuity.
