Tràkata was a lightsaber combat style defined by the practice of rapidly activating and deactivating the saber blade during combat. A Sith known as "the Stranger", a saber wielder who disregarded conventional lightsaber combat methods, utilized Tràkata while fighting a group of Jedi on Khofar in 132 BBY. Later, during his rematch with Jedi Master Sol on Brendok, the Stranger again employed Tràkata; Sol himself also used this technique to generate a wave of Force energy and destroy the Stranger's lightsaber, ultimately securing his victory in the duel. Obi-Wan Kenobi used Tràkata in his battle against Maul and Savage Opress on Florrum. Cal Kestis briefly incorporated Tràkata into his duel with the Second Sister on Bogano. Marrok also briefly employed Tràkata to offset Ahsoka in their final duel; however, Ahsoka quickly adapted and emerged victorious.
During a duel between Jedi Master Tajin Crosser and the Elder, their lightsabers clashed, with the Elder simultaneously using Force Lightning. When Dan G'vash, his Padawan, threw his lightsaber in an attempt to stop the Elder's lightsaber strike aimed at Tajin, the Jedi Master deactivated his own blade, moved aside, and then reignited it, piercing the Elder's heart. Although the Elder perished soon after, he managed to destroy his ship before his death. Later, Tajin and Dan reflected on the encounter. When Dan suggested that Tajin had won, Tajin disputed this, attributing his success to the Elder's advanced age and suggesting that the outcome might have been different if the Elder had been younger.
