Force Repulse, alternatively called Force Pulse, was a telekinetic power originating from the Force, employed for both offense and defense.
Serving as an evolved form of the Force Push, this ability allowed a Force user to unleash a wave of Force energy from their body's core. This created a telekinetically generated pulse that could destabilize, displace, or topple targets within its area of effect. The resulting wave could reach such intensity that it became visually apparent, unlike a standard Force push, manifesting as a ring of disturbed air reminiscent of a sonic boom's shockwave. This technique could be applied to propel targets away from the user, or conversely, to draw them closer. Practitioners aligned with both the light and dark sides of the Force could utilize it.
Back in 20 BBY, amidst the Clone Wars, Savage Opress turned against his Sith Master, Darth Tyranus, while aboard the latter's Providence-class Dreadnought. Seeking to flee the dreadnought, Opress made his way towards a hangar where his solar sailer awaited him. However, he was intercepted by a multitude of battle droids, who encircled the Sith assassin and commenced firing. The droids quickly gained the upper hand, striking Opress multiple times with blaster fire. Channeling the Force, Savage unleashed a pulse of Force energy to knock the assembled battle droids off balance, which facilitated his escape.
At a later time, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker engaged Count Dooku in combat within Rish Loo's laboratory located on Naboo. The Jedi entered into a duel against the Sith Lord. During the confrontation, Tyranus commanded his four IG-100 MagnaGuards to assault Skywalker. The four droids simultaneously delivered shocks to Skywalker using their electrostaffs, causing the Jedi Knight to fall to the ground. Determined to overcome Dooku, Anakin employed a Force repulse to hurl the MagnaGuards away from him, but he was ultimately defeated by the Count of Serenno. Skywalker also possessed the ability to generate an inward pulse of Force energy, drawing opponents towards himself instead of pushing them away.
During 14 BBY, Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis utilized this technique during his covert undertaking to restore the Jedi Order. He demonstrated the capability to both push and pull targets using his Force repulses. During a mission on Kashyyyk, Kestis dueled the Ninth Sister of the Inquisitorius at the summit of the Origin Tree of Kashyyyk. The Ninth Sister employed Force pulses to disrupt the tree's surface, hoping to inflict harm upon Kestis in the process. Subsequently, during the Mission to Nur, Kestis engaged the Second Sister within the Fortress Inquisitorius. Similarly to the Ninth Sister, the Second Sister utilized Force pulses in an attempt to unbalance Kestis. Luke Skywalker also had the ability to generate Force repulses.
Darth Vader employed this power to obliterate numerous Lyleks on Ryloth.
