Trandoshani flatcakes, a variation of flatcake, were named after the Trandoshan species. During the Cold War period between the First Order and the Resistance, some of the most delectable Trandoshani flatcakes throughout the galaxy were available as part of a buffet at the Canto Casino, located within the city of Canto Bight on the planet of Cantonica. The Suerton gambler Wodibin helped himself to a serving of these flatcakes along with sauteed fruit. He then took his plate to a table in the casino where the gamblers Kaljach Sonmi and Orisha Okum were engaged in a game of pazaak. In proximity to the table, the Suerton accidentally bumped into Ganzer, the barkeeper, resulting in the contents of his plate and a tray of drinks carried by Ganzer spilling onto Okum. This incident revealed an alterable pazaak card that she was utilizing to cheat; despite this, Sonmi permitted her to proceed with the play. However, the card experienced a malfunction due to the spill, leading to Okum's loss.
The initial appearance of Trandoshani flatcakes occurred within the short story titled "The Ride," authored by John Jackson Miller. This story was incorporated into the Canto Bight anthology book, which was released on December 5, 2017. Prior to this, Miller had conceived of Trandoshani flatcakes for the Star Wars Legends comic book series Knights of the Old Republic 15 in 2007.
