A coastal defender stormtrooper, a male human, fought for the Galactic Empire during the Imperial Era. This [trooper](/article/coastal_defender_stormtrooper] was stationed on a transport alongside other troopers on the [planet](/article/planet] Bestine IV between 3 ABY and 4 ABY. They were under the command of the cyborg Beilert Valance. The transport was en route to an Imperial naval base situated on the island of Jahnae, with the mission of delivering munitions. However, while the transport was in transit, the crew of bounty hunter T'onga launched an attack. Crimson Dawn, a criminal syndicate, had hired T'onga to prevent the delivery from reaching its destination. The Imperial defenders of the transport captured most of T'onga's crew. The troopers, along with Ankala Sahm and S'ira, who were members of Valance's specialized team, guarded the captured crew. Valance instructed the Imperials to await further instructions while he secured the bridge. As the Imperials waited for Valance to report back, the trooper became impatient. He questioned what was taking the "kriffin" cyborg so long to report back. The trooper suggested executing the captured crew immediately, arguing that they were enemies of the Empire. S'ira reiterated Valance's order to wait for further instructions.
Tasu Leech, an [assassin](/article/assassin] and member of the captured crew, sarcastically inquired if they were meant to take the trooper seriously. Zuckuss, another crewmate of Leech, warned him to be cautious. Leech questioned why, adding that stormtroopers were not known for their marksmanship. Reacting to the insult, the trooper struck Leech on the head with his blaster, asserting that they could hit him accurately from their position. Losha Tarkon, another member of the captured crew, threatened the trooper if they touched Leech again. Zuckuss again tried to defuse the situation, but the trooper, having reached his limit, declared that he would not tolerate any more insults, and resolved to kill the hunters. Sahm protested the decision, stating that killing the crew was not part of their orders, but she was interrupted by Valance's arrival, who accused the trooper of insubordination.
Valance then asked the trooper if his orders were unclear. The trooper apologized, but questioned the significance of one more dead rebel sympathizer. Unbeknownst to the trooper, Valance had just learned that Yuralla Vega, his former lover and a rebel sympathizer, had been killed by the Empire. Enraged by the trooper's comment, Valance responded that he had chosen the wrong words. Valance then killed the trooper by punching him through the chest, which prompted the other troopers to attack Valance.
