This particular droid served as a member of Cad Bane's group during their operation to liberate Ziro Desilijic Tiure from his prison confinement. During the Senate hostage crisis that unfolded, the droid met its end when an unarmed Anakin Skywalker managed to destroy it. Later, the remains of the droid were discovered by fellow bounty hunter Shahan Alama.
This specific IG-86 sentinel droid was part of Cad Bane's team during their two-part endeavor to free Ziro the Hutt. To gain leverage, Bane and his band of bounty hunters launched an assault on the Senate Building, initially eliminating the Senate Commandos guarding the exterior. They breached the building and forcefully entered a control room, where they opened fire, killing everyone present. The victims included a Senate Commando, a blue Senate protocol droid, a Senate astromech, a LEP-series service droid, and a WED-15 Treadwell droid. Following this, they seized a number of senators as hostages. The sentinel droid spotted Anakin Skywalker, but because Senator Padmé Amidala possessed his lightsaber, Anakin was compelled to combat the droid using alternative methods, such as telekinetically throwing it with the Force and striking it with any available objects. He crushed the droid's head, leaving its broken body on the floor, where Shahan Alama subsequently discovered it. Observing the absence of lightsaber wounds, Alama proceeded to inform Bane that the Jedi was unarmed.
