The group of Cad Bane, also referred to as the crew of Cad Bane, consisted of bounty hunters commanded by the Duros bounty hunter Cad Bane from a time before 32 BBY until at least 20 BBY. While the members of the group changed from time to time, it always included a collection of perilous individuals, such as bounty hunters like Aurra Sing and Embo.

Prior to the Invasion of Naboo, Cad Bane, along with fellow bounty hunters Aurra Sing and Vorhdeilo, intervened in the Sith Lord Darth Maul's brawl on Nar Shaddaa within Hutta Town. Subsequently, Bane and his allies agreed to assist him in infiltrating Xev Xrexus's Cartel's auction of the Jedi Padawan Eldra Kaitis. Together, Maul, Bane, and his crew proceeded to steal a ship belonging to the Haddrex Gang. Following this, they encountered Troo-tril-tek, who successfully captured the protocol droid FE-B3 and compelled it to reveal the location of the auction. United, they journeyed to the Drazkel system. Subsequently, Bane, Maul, Sing, and Fee-Bee were able to participate in the auction.
Bane, Maul, and the rest of the group then devised a strategy to seize Kaitis from the highest bidder. After Jee Kra submitted his bid, Bane and his crew commandeered his gunship from his subordinates. Maul, Bane, and his group then confronted Jee Kra and his remaining crew as they boarded their ship. They then permitted the Sith apprentice to personally eliminate Kra and his crew. Maul, Bane, and his group then departed, only to discover that their ship had been rigged with explosives, resulting in a crash landing on Drazkel's moon.
Only Maul, Bane, Sing, Vorhdeilo, and Kaitis survived the crash. Upon observing Xrexus and her guests approaching to hunt them, Maul absconded with Kaitis while the remaining crew members prepared to engage the hunters. As Bane, Sing, and Vorhdeilo battled Xrexus's guests, Maul engaged Kaitis in a duel. Subsequently, Bane, Sing, and Vorhdeilo formulated a plan to steal a ship from the Weequay pirates. After Bane and Sing eliminated the Trandoshans and the Weequays, they seized the Weequay's ship. Bane then destroyed the other ships, reuniting with Sing and Vorhdeilo, and ultimately with Maul, who had slain Kaitis.
In 21 BBY, Bane was contracted by Darth Sidious to steal a holocron from the Jedi Temple's Holocron Vault on Coruscant. To accomplish this task, Bane enlisted the assistance of the Clawdite Cato Parasitti. Additionally, he brought his Techno-service droid Todo 360 along on the mission. Despite Parasitti's capture and Todo's destruction, Bane successfully absconded with a holocron.
Subsequently, Bane was hired by Jabba the Hutt to obtain the plans for the Senate Building. For this undertaking, Bane recruited the assassin droid HELIOS-3E and his newly reconstructed droid, Todo 360, to abduct Senator Padmé Amidala's protocol droid, C-3PO, and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker's astromech droid R2-D2. With assistance from J0-N0, Bane, Todo, and HELIOS-3E successfully retrieved the plans from the droids. Todo and HELIOS-3E then returned 3PO and R2 to their respective duties after their memories were erased.

Bane, under the direction of Jabba and the Hutt Council, was then contracted to liberate Jabba's uncle Ziro from the Republic Judiciary Central Detention Center. To free Ziro, Bane assembled his team, including Sing, Robonino, and Shahan Alama, and proceeded to the Senate building. Bane and his crew ruthlessly eliminated numerous Senate Guards at the landing platform before infiltrating the building, killing even more guards. Bane and his group then shut down power to the building and held several Senators hostage. After Chancellor Palpatine and Senator Orn Free Taa acceded to Bane's demand, HELIOS-3D, another IG droid, was dispatched to retrieve Taa and take custody of Ziro. Despite interference from Skywalker, Bane and his group successfully exited the building without being apprehended by the Coruscant Guard.
In 20 BBY, Bane was then employed by Count Dooku to liberate his agent Moralo Eval from the Detention Center. However, Bane and Eval were subsequently joined by another bounty hunter Rako Hardeen, who was actually Obi-Wan Kenobi in disguise. Initially, Bane and Eval attempted to eliminate Hardeen, but to no avail. Following their encounter with Skywalker and his apprentice Tano, Bane, Eval, and Hardeen were able to rendezvous with Dooku on Serenno.
There, Bane and several other bounty hunters underwent a test in the Box. Despite several of the bounty hunters perishing, Bane was ultimately selected by Dooku to lead the group of survivors, including Rako Hardeen, secretly Obi-Wan Kenobi in disguise, Embo, Twazzi, and Derrown, in kidnapping Chancellor Palpatine during Naboo's Festival of Light in Theed. However, the plan was thwarted when Kenobi revealed his true identity and assisted in detaining the group alongside fellow Jedi Skywalker and Mace Windu.
