Serenno was a planet situated within the Outer Rim Territories' D'Astan sector, and it boasted a landscape rich with forests, mountains, and expansive plains. The world's name, Serenno, was derived from its ruling lineage, House Serenno. During the period of the Clone Wars, Serenno allied itself with the Confederacy of Independent Systems, an organization led by Count Dooku, who was born on Serenno and served as its leader. Under the Imperial Era, the Galactic Empire took control and occupied the planet.
This terrestrial planet, Serenno, was found in the Serenno system within the D'Astan sector. It resided in grid square P-5 on the Standard Galactic Grid, specifically within the Northern Dependencies region of the Outer Rim Territories. Serenno orbited a single star and had two moons in its orbit, one of which was Mantero.
Serenno's location was strategically advantageous, positioned along a network of important hyperspace lanes. It was near Toprawa and the Corporate Sector to the northeast, marking the beginning of the Hydian Way super-hyperroute. The vast expanse of the Gordian Reach, containing the Yavin system, was to the east, while Mandalorian space was to the south. A straightforward journey along the Hydian Way to Brentaal IV allowed for a quick jump to Coruscant, the galactic center of power. Furthermore, it was situated along the Spurs of Celanon.
The planet's terrain featured abundant rainforests and towering mountain ranges, alongside savannas that transitioned into rivers flowing into the oceans. Serenno silver, a metal, shared its name with the planet. During the Invasion of Serenno, seams of sacanium were discovered beneath the plains.
Serenno was home to various animal species, including spikebats, spine-wolves, and the renowned Tirra'Taka, a member of an ancient dragon species. The Tirra'Taka was corrupted by dark side practitioners, but it managed to break free from their control and became trapped beneath the planet's surface. This dragon's story became a Serennian legend.

According to tales passed down by the planet's noble families, Serenno was once under the dominion of the Sith Empire. During this period, dark side users discovered and corrupted the Tirra'Taka to use it as a weapon. Eventually, the seven great houses, led by House Serenno, united and, according to their accounts, expelled the Sith forces without the assistance of the Jedi. In this conflict, the Tirra'Taka escaped and became trapped underground, later becoming a Serennian legend. Following this battle, the planet was renamed in honor of Serenno, a member of House Serenno. He later established the planetary council and joined the Galactic Republic. He also established the Serenno military as the planetary defense force protecting the Serenno system and its planet, Serenno.
A story later emerged about Loreth, a female theelin archaeologist determined to locate the tomb of a lost princess. Throughout her apprenticeship, she saved her money and earned more by selling her discoveries to collectors on planets like Naboo and Serenno.
Around 232 BBY during the High Republic Era, Senator Izzet Noor represented the planet in the Galactic Republic, also serving as the spokesperson for the majority of Outer Rim territories under Republic control. By 231 BBY, Kresto held the title of Count of Serenno.
By 102 BBY, Count Gora ruled Serenno. Shortly after his second son, Dooku, was born, Gora discovered the boy was Force-sensitive. Due to his dislike for the Jedi, Gora contacted the Jedi Order and abandoned the boy in a forest near his palace, hoping he would die or be found by the Jedi seekers. Gora then refused to speak about Dooku. Consequently, his other children, Ramil and Jenza, and the Serennian public were initially unaware of Dooku's existence.
Gora's rule was unpopular due to his frequent layoffs of workers, replacing them with droids. He also dismantled the Serenno Military, replacing them with security droids loyal to him, leading other Houses to dismantle their own House Guards in favor of droids. Around 90 BBY, a celebration at Carannia attracted citizens from across the galaxy and Jedi. During the event, an earthquake caused the Great Assembly House to collapse, burying Jedi Initiate Dooku and his sister, Jenza. Jedi Masters rescued them, and after discovering Dooku's presence, Gora ordered Grand Master Yoda and the Jedi to leave his planet, revealing to Dooku that Gora was his father.
Gora's unpopular rule led to a protest in 82 BBY at the Funeral of Countess Anya during Jenza's speech about her mother. Gora nearly ordered his security droids to fire on the protestors until Dooku intervened, unintentionally revealing his identity as Gora's son to the Serennian public.
By 42 BBY, Ramil succeeded Count Gora and continued his father's policy of replacing the Serenno Military with droids. As part of a scheme to end the infighting among the Great Houses, he allowed pirates to repeatedly raid the planet and its capital. This forced the Great Houses to hire Abyssin mercenaries, who were eventually bought out by Ramil. He then ordered them to seize control of the planet and its capital, leading to the Invasion of Serenno. Without support from the Jedi Council or the Republic, Jedi Masters Dooku, Sifo-Dyas, and Lene Kostana went to Serenno to assist the resistance. Their ship was shot down and crashed on the Delgaldon Plains. They joined the resistance and attacked an Abyssin Outpost near Carannia. Ramil and his droid army intervened, disarming the Jedi Masters and the resistance. Ramil summoned Dooku to his ship, the Windrunner, and threatened to kill the members of the other six Great Houses and Jenza. This angered Dooku, especially when Ramil was about to order Jenza's death, leading him to summon the Tirra'Taka, which destroyed Ramil's droid army. While the Tirra'Taka ravaged the droid army, Dooku killed Ramil. He was then forced to kill the Tirra'Taka after losing control of the dragon.
After becoming Count, Dooku attended a summit requested by the Great Houses in his castle. He used a seam of scancium discovered near Carannia after the battle to help rebuild the city, which had been ravaged in 42 BBY.
Before the Clone Wars, Dooku traveled to Sullust to continue contract negotiations between Serenno and the SoroSuub Corporation. He also secretly sought out the Kaldana Syndicate to ally with his master, Darth Sidious.
In 24 BBY, Dooku founded the Confederacy of Independent Systems, an alliance of solar systems seeking to secede from the Republic. He moved his headquarters to a cliff-side castle on Serenno. As Count, Dooku continued to dismantle the Serenno military and replace workers with droids, causing widespread unemployment.

Around 23 BBY, in the great hall of his castle, Dooku tasked his Sith apprentice Asajj Ventress to find his sister, Lady Jenza. Ventress reviewed datapads and Dooku's journal, learning about Dooku's life before he left the Jedi Order. She discovered that Jenza had been kidnapped and began tracking Glute, a Crolute criminal hired by Raz Fellidrone. Before Ventress could extract information from Glute, Raz Fellidrone, a Republic Intelligence officer, killed him with a blaster bolt. Fellidrone tortured Jenza to gain information for the Galactic Republic. Ventress found him and killed him with her lightsaber in his apartment on Serenno. Dooku arrived and ordered Ventress to kill Jenza to prevent her from revealing sensitive information. Ventress apologized and killed Jenza in the apartment, then destroyed all evidence, causing the building to burn down.
Shortly before the Clone Wars, the Spike, an underground, inverted cone-shaped [prison](/article/prison] for important prisoners, was built in the rocky Aparian Wastes.

The conflict between the Republic and the Confederacy escalated into the Clone Wars, and Serenno became a Confederate stronghold. Protected by a cordon of Confederate warships, the planet remained largely untouched by the war's battles. Dooku funded his war effort with a war chest of spoils stolen from his people, in addition to looting from worlds he had conquered.
Early in the Clone Wars, the Cadesura disaster on Cato Neimoidia prompted Dooku to issue a statement from Castle Serenno, condemning the Republic. He challenged the Republic to send Supreme Chancellor Palpatine to Cato Neimodia to prove its innocence. At some point, the Blockade of Serenno occurred, with the CIS using Dual Hemisphere-Omni Support Vessels to protect the planet.

In 20 BBY, Darth Sidious, Dooku's Sith Master, ordered Dooku to eliminate Ventress, his Sith apprentice, fearing her growing power. Ventress survived Dooku's attempt to kill her. Returning to Dathomir, she and fellow Nightsisters Karis and Naa'leth, disguised as Jedi, attempted to assassinate Dooku at his palace. Dooku easily repelled them with the Force. Mother Talzin then offered to replace Ventress with Savage Opress. Dooku accepted, and Opress was delivered to Serenno, where Dooku began his training.
Later, Dooku summoned eleven of the galaxy's best bounty hunters, including Cad Bane and Rako Hardeen, secretly Obi-Wan Kenobi in disguise, to Serenno. He sought the best candidate for Moralo Eval's plot to kidnap the Supreme Chancellor. Dooku placed the bounty hunters in Eval's Box, a cubical structure on Serenno.
After Savage Opress betrayed him, Dooku ordered General Grievous to kill Ventress and massacre the Nightsisters on Dathomir. During the Battle of Dathomir, Mother Talzin tried to kill Dooku, leading him to order Grievous to stop her. Dooku was saved when Grievous supposedly killed Talzin. After the battle, Dooku discussed Savage Opress's growing power with Grievous, sensing a rising threat.
After Tup, a clone trooper, fired on Jedi General Tiplar due to a malfunction in his behavioral modification biochip, Dooku reported the incident to Darth Sidious, who ordered him to seize the clone. Dooku complied and ordered Separatist forces to capture Tup. Dooku later received two inhibitor chips from Tup and Fives that CT-5555 "Fives" intended to use as evidence. Sidious ordered all evidence destroyed. Dooku then helped Rush Clovis take over the InterGalactic Banking Clan, ensuring Clovis had no other allies.
During the Clone Wars, Plo Koon investigated a signal on Oba Diah and found a crashed ship and Sifo-Dyas's lightsaber, leading to an investigation into Sifo-Dyas's death. Sidious contacted Dooku and used force choke to ensure Dooku eliminated the loose end before the Jedi discovered his plans.
Near the end of the Clone Wars, Dooku imprisoned Quinlan Vos at his palace on Serenno and subjected him to torture. He revealed that Ventress had murdered Vos's master, Tholme, pushing Vos to the dark side and making him Dooku's apprentice. When Ventress arrived with Boba Fett's syndicate to rescue Vos, he rejected them and sided with Dooku.

After Dooku learned that CT-6116 "Kix" knew about the plot to kill all the Jedi, he ordered Kix kidnapped. The Separatists planned to bring Kix to Serenno on the Obrexta III. Republic forces ambushed the vessel. Unable to reach Serenno due to damage, the ship jumped to hyperspace and crashed on Ponemah Terminal in the Western Reaches.
In 19 BBY, the Republic's D'Astan campaign to capture Serenno failed. Around the same time, Dooku sent Duke Solha to Mokivj to convert a factory into a droid factory, producing Cortosis B2 super battle droids. His siblings later joined him on Mokivj. In the same year, Dooku ordered Grievous to bring a large kyber crystal to Serenno, but Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker thwarted the plan.
Throughout the Clone Wars, Dooku oversaw the Separatist Senate on Raxus Secundus from Castle Serenno via hologram. The planet served as a refuge for Dooku to meditate in the dark side of the Force.

The Republic's transformation into the Galactic Empire marked the end of the Clone Wars, occurring a mere handful of days following Dooku's demise during the Battle of Coruscant. Serenno was swiftly taken over and occupied by the Empire. A focused campaign was initiated against the planet's inhabitants, resulting in the deaths of many Serennians, and the destruction of at least one of its cities, visible from Castle Serenno, through orbital bombardment. Some Serennian survivors, such as Romar Adell, sought refuge on their own planet. Adell relocated to a hidden home situated in the upper forest region. Clone troopers under the command of Clone Captain Wilco were dispatched by the Empire to Castle Serenno to secure and transport Dooku's wealth off-world.
Phee Genoa, a pirate, discovered this operation and relayed the information to her contact, Cid, an information broker based on Ord Mantell. Cid, hoping to obtain some of the funds in case she was forced to abandon her operation due to the Empire, convinced the clone deserters of Clone Force 99, who were working for her as mercenaries, to attempt to steal a portion of the war chest to secure their financial future. Upon their arrival on Serenno, the "Bad Batch" personally witnessed the devastation of the destroyed city as they approached the castle. Upon arriving at the castle, they discovered that the majority of the riches had already been loaded onto three class four container transports that were preparing to depart. The team split into two groups and attempted to pilfer some of the contents of Transport Three's cargo, while Hunter, the squad's leader, attempted to create a distraction by detonating some V-wing starfighters.
However, things quickly went awry for the would-be thieves, and Transport Three departed prematurely with Batch members Echo, Tech, and Omega still aboard. Wrecker and Hunter were compelled to escape through the castle and into the ruined city, while the group on the transport resorted to ejecting its entire load of cargo containers in order to return to Serenno's surface after the starship's crew launched the escape pods. Wilco spearheaded a pursuit into the ruins and ordered other troopers to pursue the scattered cargo, which landed in the upper forest region. There, Echo, Omega, and an injured Tech encountered Adell and coerced him into briefly providing them shelter at his house.
Feeling responsible for her brothers becoming fugitives, Omega secretly returned to the cliff where their cargo container had crashed, intending to recover some of the riches. Upon returning from a patrol, Echo discovered her absence and tracked her down, coinciding with the arrival of Imperial clone troopers at the site, forcing him to retreat into the cargo container. Despite his injury, Tech followed them and fought off some clone troopers, aided by Adell, who ultimately decided to assist. The altercation resulted in Omega being unable to retrieve any of the war chest as the cargo container was dislodged further down the cliff; Echo convinced her to abandon it before they escaped.

While attempting to locate a weapon in the ruined city, Hunter and Wrecker were tracked down and surrounded by Wilco's company. Wrecker fashioned a makeshift cannon from components of an old Separatist tank, which he used to blast through enemy lines. The two fugitives managed to escape the city and were pursued back to their starship, the Marauder. After taking off, they rendezvoused with the other members of the Batch and collected them. Adell declined their offer to join them. Wilco's attempt to provide an accurate report of the incident led to his assassination at Castle Serenno by Vice Admiral Rampart, who sought to conceal the Bad Batch's survival of the Fall of Tipoca City in order to avoid incurring the displeasure of his superior, Governor Wilhuff Tarkin.
By 10 BBY, [Chrodber](/article/chrodber] held the title of Count of Serenno and was a guest aboard the First Light, Dryden Vos' yacht. In 9 BBY, a B2-series super battle droid recalled having conducted patrols on Serenno in the past. During the same year, the Mirialan Moran recounted a tale to Jedi Fugitive Cal Kestis concerning an incident over the Outer Rim Territories planet Muunilinst and how he was confronted by a customs longship due to a failure to update transponder codes by the fence. Moran stated that his vessel was marked and boarded by three customs officers. Despite Moran's attempts to deceive the officers, one officer chose to forcefully open a shipping container which, according to Moran, contained slightly incriminating powder. In an effort to conceal the true contents of the shipping container, Moran informed the officers that they were observing the ashes of a thousand ritually cremated Serennian war heroes. The officers believed Moran's fabrication, enabling Moran to evade the officers and avoid spending time in a Muunilist Work Camp.
By 0 BBY, Han Solo, a Corellian smuggler, encountered a girl named Sarla at the Carannia Spaceport on Serenno, who became infatuated with Solo's charm.
During the First Order-Resistance War, Kendoh Voss, a Serennian mercenary, led the Kendoh Gang, with the intention of restoring her family's former glory and wealth. Voss was known as the "Scourge of Serenno."
Serenno's population primarily consisted of humans, but also included a scattering of Chiss and Twi'leks. During the Clone Wars, Serenno served as Count Dooku's personal stronghold and remained isolated from the conflict. While it held political significance for the Confederacy, Serenno received few visitors, primarily prisoners such as Quinlan Voss and individuals crucial to the Confederacy. As Dooku exploited his own people for the sake of the war effort, the Serennian populace began to oppose their ruler. However, following the rise of the Empire, the Serennian population faced persecution, with survivors like Romar Adell living in seclusion on their planet.
Serennian nobility donned Serennian cloaks as a means of identification. Count Dooku, Duke Solha, Solha's brother, and Solha's sister all wore Serennian cloaks. Serenno also maintained various customs, including granting condemned prisoners a final request. Members of House Serenno who passed away were interred on Mantero, a moon orbiting Serenno.
In 19 BBY, a Model 2 datacore containing a fragment of Serennian history, culture, music, arts, and memories was one such item that survived the Imperial Orbital Bombardment of at least 1 city near Castle Serenno. The item was located in Romar Addell's House.
Castle Serenno was an opulent, decorative castle perched on the edge of a cliff, overlooking a valley that housed Serenno City. The nearby upper forest region was also situated near the castle. The estate comprised ten relay stations and a central main tower that towered at twenty-two meters, also encompassing a great hall and a sleeping chamber. By 20 BBY, the castle contained the Box, a newly constructed cubical structure designed to assess the skills of bounty hunters. Individuals permitted to enter the castle traversed a lengthy pathway that meandered through the gardens leading to the Castle.
The castle served as the headquarters of House Serenno. During the Clone Wars, it functioned as the residence and stronghold of Count Dooku. By 19 BBY, during the Imperial Era, the structure was abandoned and subsequently plundered by the Galactic Empire for Dooku's War Chest.
Romar Adell's house was situated in the upper forest region of the planet. He was compelled to reside there due to an Imperial orbital bombardment of a nearby city in the vicinity of Castle Serenno. The house included a basement containing items that had survived the orbital bombardment, including a model 2 DataCore containing a fragment of Serennian history and culture.

Serenno made its initial appearance in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode Nightsisters.
In the 2018 reference book Star Wars Encyclopedia of Starfighters and Other Vehicles, Serenno was erroneously spelled as "Serreno."
