Wilco was a clone trooper who, after the Clone Wars concluded between 19 BBY and 18 BBY, transitioned into serving as both a stormtrooper and a Clone Captain within the Galactic Empire's army. His responsibilities included overseeing the relocation of Count Dooku's war chest from Serenno, specifically the count's palace located on that planet. However, during these operations, the renegade clone squad known as Clone Force 99, or the "Bad Batch," attempted to pilfer some of the treasure. Alerted to their presence, Wilco expedited the launch of the final transport loaded with the war chest's contents, while also redeploying his forces to confront the encroaching threat.
Wilco spearheaded a security detail in an attempt to capture Hunter and Wrecker, members of the Bad Batch, inside the palace. Despite their efforts, the pair evaded capture and retreated into the ruins of Serenno City beneath the palace. The captain and his troops maintained their pursuit, sealing off the ruined city. As his team re-engaged the two rogues, Wrecker commandeered a cannon from a destroyed Separatist tank, using it to suppress Wilco's unit. Ultimately, the Bad Batch successfully escaped Serenno, prompting Wilco to file a mission report detailing the incident. Subsequently, Vice Admiral Rampart arrived, questioning the Bad Batch's involvement and demanding their removal from the report. When Wilco refused to alter the official record, the admiral fatally shot him.

Wilco's origins trace back to Kamino, where he was engineered as a clone derived from the human male bounty hunter Jango Fett. His purpose was to serve as a clone trooper within the Galactic Republic's clone army during the Clone Wars against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Over time, he ascended to the rank of Clone Captain. Following the war's end in 19 BBY, the Republic transformed into the Galactic Empire, and the clones continued their service as stormtroopers in the Imperial Army. Wilco received assignment to Serenno, a former Separatist world where the Empire was in the process of seizing the war chest of the deceased Separatist leader Count Dooku from his captured palace. In the palace courtyard, the captain supervised the transfer of valuables onto three class four container transports, each escorted off-world by Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-wing starfighters in a sequential manner.
As Wilco issued directives to his clone stormtroopers, the transportation process adhered to the established schedule. However, following the departure of the second class four transport, the rogue clone squad Clone Force 99, also known as the "Bad Batch," initiated an infiltration of the final transport, Transport Three, with the intent of stealing some of the plunder. The stormtrooper sentry CT-8801 was stunned while investigating a suspicious noise originating from the group. When the sentry failed to report back, another trooper informed Wilco, who attempted to contact CT-8801 directly. Receiving no response, the captain instructed the stormtrooper to locate the missing sentry. Subsequently, two of the docked V-wing starfighters were detonated by Bad Batch leader Hunter as a diversionary tactic. Wilco fell for the ruse and ordered his security team to address the explosion.

Upon arriving at the site of the explosion and receiving a damage report from a stormtrooper present, Wilco inquired about the cause. He then proceeded to order Transport Three to secure its cargo and prepare for launch, while also instructing all squads to maintain the courtyard's perimeter. Hunter and his squadmate Wrecker opted to attack some of the guarding stormtroopers in an attempt to board the transport, where the rest of their Bad Batch comrades were located. Wilco observed the ensuing firefight and ordered the immediate launch of Transport Three. Hunter and Wrecker clung to the launching transport momentarily before jumping off and landing on the palace's roof.
As his stormtroopers unleashed fire upon the palace roof, where Hunter and Wrecker had briefly taken refuge, Wilco commanded a lockdown of the area and led his security team into the palace to pursue the pair. While navigating the palace passageways, he received information from Transport Three's crew that intruders were aboard their vessel. Consequently, the captain ordered the transport's escape pods to be jettisoned to thwart the Bad Batch's escape. He then proceeded to the palace's great hall, where stormtroopers were already engaged in combat with the fleeing Hunter and Wrecker. Wilco and his troops advanced into the hall in a three-pronged assault, but when Wrecker deployed a smoke bomb, the two rogue clones vanished, escaping through the lift located behind the hall's main console.
Wilco and his forces tracked their adversaries to the palace's shuttle bay. Upon entering, one of his troopers reported that the cargo of Transport Three had been jettisoned by the Bad Batch members on board, scattering throughout the upper forest region near the palace, where squads had already been dispatched to search for them. While the stormtrooper expressed doubt that the Bad Batch members had survived using the containers as an escape route, Wilco sought confirmation. Another trooper presented him with a grappling hook, indicating that Hunter and Wrecker had descended from the palace's shuttle bay to the ruins of the former Serenno City below. Wilco thus ordered the forces at the palace to be redirected with shuttle support and full comm channel monitoring.
Upon arriving in the ruined city, Wilco received notification that half of the jettisoned containers had been located and an encoded transmission had been intercepted. The captain deduced that the intruders within the containers had survived and ordered the search squads to be divided to monitor all fifty containers. Another stormtrooper then informed him that the city perimeter was secured, prompting him to order a radial sweep to encircle Hunter and Wrecker. Wilco and his forces soon located the enemy pair and began pursuing them as they moved through the city. They initiated engagement when the duo paused to investigate some Separatist tank wreckage, with the captain requesting air support.

Hunter deployed another smoke bomb as a diversion, while Wrecker seized a tank gun and powered it up using a vehicle battery. The latter rogue clone utilized the gun to eliminate an approaching V-wing before targeting Wilco's unit. Wilco and his stormtroopers began to retreat, but the captain was knocked down by the cannon fire, and the rest of his squad was incapacitated as Hunter and Wrecker made their escape. After regaining consciousness, Wilco removed his helmet and examined the stormtroopers who had perished in Wrecker's attack. Another squad arrived, with one trooper reporting that the "intruders" had retreated to the eastern ridge. The captain ordered air support to be rerouted to intercept them.
Despite reinforcements from Wilco's forces, the Bad Batch successfully escaped from Serenno. Following the skirmish, Wilco submitted a mission report detailing the Bad Batch incident and returned to Castle Serenno to concentrate on recovering all of the jettisoned crates, eventually retrieving eighty-five percent of the lost war chest. Imperial Vice Admiral Edmon Rampart subsequently arrived at the palace to review Wilco's report in the palace courtyard. The stormtrooper reiterated his commitment to recovering the entirety of the war chest. Rampart, however, clarified that he had come to address an inaccuracy in Wilco's report, asserting that the Bad Batch was supposed to have been eliminated during the destruction of Tipoca City on Kamino.

Wilco stood by his report, adding that he had personally witnessed two members of the Bad Batch. In response, Rampart acknowledged that he would be at risk if Governor Wilhuff Tarkin learned of his failure to eliminate the rogue clone squad, requesting that a revised report be submitted without any mention of the Bad Batch. Wilco refused to falsify his report, prompting Rampart to draw his RK-3 blaster and aim it at the captain's chest, declaring that he would falsify the report himself. As Wilco attempted to attack Rampart, the Admiral shot him, causing him to stumble over a railing and fall into the chasm below the palace, resulting in his death.
As a clone of Jango Fett, Wilco possessed a similar physical appearance to his genetic template, including tan skin, short black hair, and brown eyes. As a clone trooper, his height was 1.83 meters (6ft). Wilco was loyal to the Galactic Empire, but he refused to falsify an official report to appease the corrupt Admiral Edmon Rampart. Like most clone troopers, Wilco was driven by duty and committed to completing his mission on Serenno, vowing to ensure that all of Count Dooku's war chest was successfully transported off-world.
As a captain, Wilco demonstrated competence and effectiveness in commanding his troops. He was a quick-thinking and decisive decision-maker, skills that aided him in outmaneuvering Clone Force 99 on multiple occasions during their encounter, thwarting many of their intended escape plans. Wilco maintained a positive relationship with the troopers under his command and took time to observe his wounded men after a skirmish with Clone Force 99.
Wilco was outfitted with standard white Phase II clone trooper armor, devoid of any markings except for a black comlink on his wrist. He wore a black pauldron to signify his rank as a stormtrooper Clone Captain. He carried a DC-15A blaster carbine and later a DC-17 hand blaster, and he utilized a datapad while on Serenno.
Wilco's first appearance was in the first episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch's second season, which premiered on January 4, 2023. His name is derived from the phrase "Roger Wilco," a procedural term used in radio communication to indicate "understood, will comply."
