The upper forest region existed on a mountain range of the Outer Rim planet Serenno, situated near both Castle Serenno and Serenno City. This area featured an extensive forest displaying a variety of colors, with light green and purple leaves. By 19 BBY, it served as the location of Romar Adell's domicile.
During 19 BBY, Clone Force 99 experienced a crash within a cargo container along the region's cliffside. Although Tech, Echo, and Omega survived the crash, Tech suffered a broken left femur. Subsequently, the group journeyed through the region and encountered Romar Adell, a Serennian survivor. With limited options, Adell provided them shelter in his home. Following a period of rest, Omega embarked on a clandestine mission to recover some of Dooku's war chest from the crashed cargo container. This action prompted Adell and the others to locate Omega before she could be captured by Imperial forces. They succeeded in rescuing Omega from the Imperials. Later, they departed from the region and the planet aboard the Marauder.

In the early Imperial Era, Clone Force 99 attempted a raid on Castle Serenno, during which members of the Bad Batch detached several cargo containers from Transport Three. These containers held Dooku's war chest and were being transported offworld. One of these containers, carrying Tech, Echo, and Omega, crashed in the upper forest region near a cliff edge. The impact resulted in Tech fracturing his femur. After escaping the container, the Bad Batch members made their way through the region, eventually spotting Romar Adell, a Serennian survivor, observing them. Consequently, Adell, left with no alternative, led them to his domicile.
After the Bad Batch entered and rested in Adell's domicile, they engaged in a tense discussion with Romar concerning the war chest. Subsequently, Adell presented Omega with a kaleidoscope and requested Tech's assistance in repairing a Model two datacore. Tech successfully repaired the datacore, restoring its memory, which contained Serennian history, culture, art, music, and personal memories. While Adell expressed his gratitude to Tech, Echo returned from scouting, inquiring about Omega's whereabouts. Tech deduced that Omega had gone to retrieve the cargo container that crashed on the cliffside, prompting both of them to immediately head towards the crash site. Feeling obligated to Tech, Adell joined them.
As Tech and Echo traveled, Omega utilized a rappelling cable she had taken from Adell to enter the cargo container. Upon Echo's arrival, Imperial forces discovered the Bad Batch members and initiated an attack. To evade blaster fire, Echo secured himself and Omega inside the cargo container. Tech, upon reaching the scene, observed the Empire preparing for the arrival of a Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry gunship with additional reinforcements. Consequently, Tech had to neutralize the troopers. He managed to stun the troopers present before collapsing due to the injury to his left femur.
After Adell roused Tech, an LAAT/i gunship arrived at the location reported by the previous clone troopers. With no time to spare, Tech manned the guns and destroyed the LAAT/i gunship and two approaching BARC speeders, while Adell used the rappelling cable to bring Echo and Omega to safety. Adell successfully rescued Echo and Omega before the container plunged off the cliffside. Immediately afterward, the Marauder arrived to retrieve the remaining members. Before their departure, Adell gifted Omega the kaleidoscope as a keepsake and bid them farewell. The Marauder then departed Serenno and entered hyperspace.

This location was initially featured in the Bad Batch Season 2 premiere episodes, Spoils of War and Ruins of War, which were released on January 4, 2023 via Disney+. Molly Denmark created the lighting concept depicting a cargo container carrying Tech, Echo, and Omega on the verge of crashing into the Upper forest region. The same artist also developed the lighting concept showcasing Omega looking down at the crashed cargo container.
