Embo, a Kyuzo male bounty hunter, operated during the Clone Wars era. This hunter, proficient on his own, frequently collaborated with various groups during the Clone Wars, wielding a bowcaster and sporting a distinctive wide-brimmed circular hat that served as both weapon and shield. He was particularly known for his association with Sugi's group of bounty hunters. For example, he joined Sugi's team on Felucia to protect Felucian farmers from the Ohnaka Gang. He also worked for the Hutt Clans in a confrontation against Maul, the former Sith Lord, and his Shadow Collective. Embo was also a member of Boba Fett's Krayt's Claw, fighting alongside fellow hunters such as Bossk, C-21 Highsinger, and Latts Razzi. The group was once employed by Asajj Ventress to aid in the escape of her lover Quinlan Vos from Count Dooku's castle on Serenno. On Scipio, he briefly held his own against the legendary Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker in battle. He also had a pet anooba named Marrok and flew a saucer-shaped starship named the Guillotine.
During the Imperial Era, Mercurial Swift hired Embo to capture Sugi's relative, Jas Emari. He collaborated with Dengar and Jeeta in this endeavor, but later chose to join Emari's crew. Following the Battle of Jakku, Embo initially received funds from the New Republic, but after those funds were depleted, he became a farmer on Felucia.
Phatrong was the planet where Embo was born. During the [Clone Wars](/article/clone_wars], Embo made his living as a bounty hunter. He was often associated with Sugi's group, known as Sugi's bounty hunters, which also included Rumi Paramita and Seripas. Embo and Sugi developed a close relationship, with Sugi frequently relying on Embo as a trusted mercenary.

During the Clone Wars period, Casiss Midagatis, the leader of a farming community on the planet Felucia, hired the crew to safeguard the villagers and their Nysillin harvest from a gang of pirates under the command of Hondo Ohnaka. Shortly after their hiring, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Ahsoka Tano experienced a crash landing on Felucia, leading them to the village. Before Casiss intervened and urged collaboration against the pirates, there was a brief confrontation between the Jedi and the hunters.
Initially hesitant to assist, the Jedi changed their minds after a brief encounter with Ohnaka, the gang's leader, whom they had met previously. Refusing to be bribed by the pirates, the bounty hunters, along with the Jedi, initiated the training of the villagers in self-defense. Embo, observing Skywalker's instruction on using a simple farming tool as a weapon, chuckled at their inexperience. As the villagers prepared for the fight, Sugi noticed a lone pirate observing them from a nearby ridge. Embo was assigned to handle the scout, swiftly eliminating him. He disabled the Starhawk speeder bike with his bowcaster, deflected the pirate's shots using his metallic hat, and ultimately broke the Weequay's neck with his hands. Skywalker praised Embo's actions, but the fact that the scout would not report back to Hondo meant the villagers had no time to lose.

Soon after, the pirates launched an attack on the village. Numerous pirates on speeder bikes stormed into the village, firing at the defenders. Embo took down one of the pirates and commandeered a speeder bike, using it to eliminate several others. However, when Ohnaka arrived in his tank, Embo was unable to evade one of the tank's blasts and was struck. Suffering a severe injury to his right arm, Embo was assisted into the main barn at the village's center by Sugi and the others, rendering him unable to continue fighting. Following the retreat of Ohnaka and his pirates from the system, Embo departed in Sugi's ship, Halo, accompanied by the Jedi, and traveled to a Republic outpost.

On one occasion, Embo and Sugi were present at the palace of Jabba the Hutt on Tatooine. While there, Pantoran diplomats Papanoida and his son, Ion, were looking for Greedo, a Rodian bounty hunter who had kidnapped Papanoida's daughters.
Later, Embo was on Serenno with eleven other bounty hunters, including Obi-Wan Kenobi, disguised as the Concordian bounty hunter Rako Hardeen, to compete in the "Box," designed by Moralo Eval. Embo was among the few survivors of the challenge and was tasked by Count Dooku with kidnapping Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine.
Embo then journeyed to Naboo to execute the daring mission. The hunters successfully kidnapped the Chancellor, assuming the identities of Senate Commandos using the holographic disguise matrix developed by Sinrich. Embo rushed the Chancellor away but failed to escape and were arrested by Skywalker and Mace Windu.
However, Embo's time in Republic custody was short-lived. Sometime later, he and his pet anooba Marrok were seen sharing a table at Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina, and they were also present outside a hut in the town.

Later, the Grand Hutt Council hired Embo as a bodyguard, along with Sugi, Dengar, and Latts Razzi. When Maul and his brother, Savage Opress, representing the Shadow Collective, threatened the Hutts, Embo and the others intervened to protect their employers. Initially, the bounty hunters managed to repel the brothers, but they were forced back when the forces of Death Watch joined the assault. Embo faced Opress alone, saved from the Zabrak only by the strength of his hat. Realizing they couldn't defeat the two brothers, Embo and the others retreated, abandoning their employers.

Subsequently, Embo traveled to Scipio, the home planet of Rush Clovis, having been hired to drive him off the InterGalactic Banking Clan vault world. Embo tracked Padmé Amidala using a probe droid and killed Amidala's aide, Teckla Minnau when his probe droid spotted her planting a thermal detonator in the power generator superstructure. Embo then began to surveil Clovis' quarters, and when Clovis arrived along with Amidala and Skywalker, Embo disabled the trio's ship. As they fled in a speeder, Marrok forced them to pilot down the mountainside. Embo used his hat to sled down the mountain in pursuit of the speeder carrying his target. However, he was held at bay by Skywalker until the trio was saved by R2-D2, who was piloting their ship, saving them before they could go over a cliff. Having accomplished his mission, Embo informed his employer, Darth Sidious, that Clovis had escaped—just as the Dark Lord had planned.
In the later months of the Clone Wars, Embo frequently worked with Boba Fett's bounty hunter team, Krayt's Claw. One particular job involved the crew being hired by former Sith ally Asajj Ventress to assist in rescuing her lover, Quinlan Vos, from captivity on Serenno. This marked his first collaboration with the Dathomirian Nightsister and former Sith apprentice. Embo and his anooba Marrok traveled to Serenno on the Guillotine and met with Krayt's Claw and Ventress at the planet's spaceport. While the mission failed, Embo and the rest of Fett's team survived their encounter with Sith Lord Count Dooku.
Several years prior to the Battle of Yavin, Sabine Wren depicted Embo in some graffiti aboard the Ghost, the ship of Hera Syndulla.

Following the Battle of Endor, Embo accepted a job to collect a bounty on Lando Calrissian, a prominent general in the Alliance to Restore the Republic responsible for the destruction of the Galactic Empire's second Death Star. Embo located Lando's ship, the Millennium Falcon, at a refueling station and boarded it as a stowaway. Embo sabotaged the ship, preventing it from taking off. While Calrissian attempted repairs, Embo confronted him with his bowcaster. Embo spoke to him, though Lando could only understand the words "Death Star" come from the Kyuzo. Lando realized Embo was there to collect the bounty and offered to split it. Embo protested and aimed his blaster, but Lando stalled long enough for a pipe to burst behind Embo, knocking him into a wall and incapacitating him. Calrissian tied up Embo. Lando brought the captive Embo outside the ship, where he exaggerated what had happened to his co-pilot, Nien Nunb. Lando had also managed to complete repairs on the ship, and credited an old friend inside the Falcon for helping him stop Embo.
In 5 ABY, Embo, along with Dengar and a Rodian named Jeeta, was hired by Mercurial Swift to capture Jas Emari, Sugi's niece. The Black Sun crime boss Gyuti had placed a bounty on Emari's head. Embo joined Swift's party to clear his debts. After learning that Niima the Hutt had taken Jas captive on Jakku, Embo and the other bounty hunters traveled to Niima's temple to pick her up. Swift entered Emari's cell to retrieve her, intending to claim the bounty for himself and abandon his crew. However, Jas escaped and overpowered her captors.
After escaping, Jas went to the hangar and found Embo and Dengar guarding Swift's Corellian shuttle. They began talking, and Embo mentioned the death of Marrok, which had occurred years earlier. Knowing Embo had debts, Jas reminded him of his past collaborations with her aunt Sugi. Emari convinced Embo to let her take the ship, saying that he was old and that Marrok always liked her. Dengar tried to stop Jas, but she escaped on the Corellian shuttle.
Later, Jas Emari and New Republic operative Norra Wexley returned to Niima's temple. In exchange for ferrying Niima back to her temple, Niima outfitted them with an old Imperial shuttle, old uniforms, and clearance codes to enter the Main Imperial base on Jakku. Embo and the rest of Swift's party cornered Jas and Niima. While Norra escaped with her son's droid Mister Bones aboard the shuttle, Jas stayed behind to allow Norra to proceed with her mission to capture Grand Admiral Rae Sloane.
After Emari's capture, Swift tried to travel to Nar Shaddaa to deliver Jas to Boss Gyuti. However, they were unable to leave due to the Battle of Jakku. During the wait, Jas convinced Embo, Dengar, and Jeeta to turn against Swift. She offered them pardons from the New Republic if they switched sides. Swift objected but was thrown out of the shuttle by Jas with Dengar's help. Embo, Jeeta, and Dengar then became Jas' crew. They took Swift's shuttle to the Jakku Observatory where they picked up Norra, who had joined forces with Sloane and her estranged husband Brentin Lore Wexley to stop Gallius Rax from destroying Jakku as part of the late Emperor's contingency plan.
Following the Battle of Jakku and the Galactic Concordance, Embo and the rest of Emari's crew received full pardons from the New Republic with the help of Jas' friend Sinjir Rath Velus, a former Imperial loyalty officer who had become an adviser to Chancellor Mon Mothma. They also received enough money from the New Republic and continued to work with Emari as her crew.
By 9 ABY, Embo's New Republic funding ran out, leading to his informal retirement from bounty hunting. He chose Felucia to settle on, starting a life as a farmer there. In 34 ABY, mercenary Bazine Netal sought out Embo, searching for the Millennium Falcon. Netal learned from junk droid Teetee that a bounty hunter with a pet anooba and an armored hat had contacted the Falcon, and she immediately recognized who the droid was referring to. Netal found Embo on Felucia, but the Kyuzo reacted poorly to her arrival. After a short chase, he cornered her, and she offered him a deal. Netal knew he was low on credits and offered him some for information on his encounter with the Falcon. Despite the initial language barrier, Embo told her the story of his failed attempt to capture the ship and collect the bounty on Lando Calrissian after the Battle of Endor. Netal was underwhelmed and didn't believe it was worth the credits, but held up her end of the bargain. As she prepared to leave, Embo gave her what information he had on the ship's current location, telling her it had surfaced on Corellia and directing her to meet with Lady Proxima for more information.

Embo was generally quiet, stoic, and disciplined. His communication was primarily in his native language, presenting a challenge for others to understand him. He was mostly ruthless, showing no mercy or remorse as he eliminated his foes (although he did feel remorse for accepting a bounty on Jas Emari, as he was unwilling to hurt her), and using his unorthodox weapons to lethal effect. Embo's only code was getting paid.
Although he mainly freelanced, Embo was a constant and reliable ally to Sugi, who could always count on him when needed. Her niece, Jas Emari, also respected Embo. By the time of the Battle of Jakku, Embo had incurred debts, leading him to reluctantly accept Mercurial Swift's offer to join his crew and collect Boss Gyuti's bounty on Jas. However, Embo was unwilling to hurt Jas since they had worked together in the past. On one occasion, he allowed Jas to escape. On another, he and his fellow bounty hunters Dengar and Jeeta turned against Swift after Jas convinced them to join forces with her in return for securing pardons from the New Republic. Due to their dislike for Swift, Embo did not object to Dengar and Jas throwing Swift out of his shuttle.
Originating from the planet Phatrong, Embo's height was 1.99 meters, or 6 feet, 6 inches.
A lethal combatant, Embo possessed expertise in multiple disciplines. Endowed with exceptional agility and acrobatics, Embo could leap to great heights and outpace any human. His mastery of unarmed combat allowed him to rival even Jedi or Sith in hand-to-hand engagements. Despite this, in his confrontation with Savage, Embo's survival was attributed to the resilience of his hat. Embo demonstrated remarkable skill with his chosen weaponry, utilizing his distinctive hat to neutralize adversaries from afar, while also employing it as a protective shield. Furthermore, Embo exhibited proficiency with his bowcaster and was a formidable sniper, as well as a proficient tracker. During the Clone Wars, Embo's reputation placed him second only to Cad Bane throughout the entire galaxy, though Bane held himself in higher esteem, he still acknowledged Embo's capabilities. Embo also possessed skills in sabotage, as evidenced by his ability to disable the Millennium Falcon, preventing its departure.
In contrast to bounty hunters like Cad Bane or Jango Fett, Embo relied sparingly on advanced technology. Embo's primary armaments consisted of a compact, foldable bowcaster for ease of transport and his trademark metallic hat, which served both as a shield and a projectile weapon. Throughout the Clone Wars, Embo frequently donned chest armor, complemented by an ammunition bandolier worn across his torso, and a lengthy red combat skirt adorned with golden symbols. Embo was also known to use macrobinoculars, an imagecaster, and a floating, single-eyed probe droid.
Embo made his debut appearance in the seventeenth episode of Season Two of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, entitled "Bounty Hunters", which initially aired on March 27, 2010. Dave Filoni, the supervising director, provided the voice for Embo. Originally, the character was slated for elimination at the conclusion of "Bounty Hunters." However, subsequent discussions among the production team regarding the character and narrative (who considered him a "cool" character) led to the decision to have Hondo injure him, allowing him to survive, as depicted in the final version. The unedited version can be viewed in the behind-the-scenes segments included with the DVD and Blu-ray releases of the season.
Embo's species, the Kyuzo, derives its name from the character "Kyuzo" featured in the film Seven Samurai. This serves as one of numerous tributes to the film within Embo's inaugural episode, "Bounty Hunters." Filoni crafted Embo's alien language, which is essentially a poorly articulated rendition of Smurfs books, written in French.
Prior to the cancellation of The Clone Wars, plans were in place for Embo to appear in a four-part story arc starring Boba Fett and Cad Bane. In a clip unveiled during the "Animated Origins and Unexpected Fates" panel at Celebration Orlando in 2017, Embo and Bossk were shown siding with Bane during a standoff against Fett and other bounty hunters. The Kyuzo was dropping Sugi's EE-3 carbine rifle and his Anooba Marrok was also going to drop her knife. While Bossk betrayed Bane by suggesting giving Fett a chance to prove himself, Embo's was just sitting idle, abandoning Bane to his fate.
