A room, constructed from transparisteel, existed on the Gaze Electric, a starship that belonged to Marda Ro, the leader of a pirate group. Although it was thought to be for medical observation, around 379 BBY, she instead used it to imprison a beast referred to as the Great Leveler. Approximately that year, she brought a Jedi into the room, so the Leveler could feed upon him. Ro subsequently referenced this room within a message recorded for her descendants. By 252 BBY, her great-great-grandson, Marchion Ro, had listened to Ro's journal, which contained the message mentioning the room.
This room was situated on the Gaze Electric, a starship under the ownership of Marda Ro, the Evereni who founded the pirate group that would later become the Nihil. Fashioned from transparisteel, Ro believed it was originally intended for medical observation purposes. The Gaze Electric was equipped with a containment shield capable of isolating the room from the rest of the vessel.

Around 379 BBY, the Great Leveler, a creature that consumed the Living Force as its diet, was confined within the room, secured by a containment shield to prevent its escape. In that year, Ro captured a Jedi and instructed her subordinates, Rox and Milan Stor, to bring him to the room. Rox dropped the Jedi outside the containment shield, which Ro then deactivated, allowing the Leveler to devour him. She then observed the Leveler transforming the Jedi into a stone-like husk. However, Rox, Stor, and her assistant, Alirya, averted their gazes and did not witness the entire process. Subsequently, Ro guided the Leveler back into the room and proceeded towards her throne hall.
At a later time, she mentioned the room within a message she recorded for her descendants. By 252 BBY, during his youth, Ro's great-great-grandson, Marchion Ro, had listened to her journal, which included the message where the medical observation room was referenced.
This room was featured in a flashback sequence in the short story called "A Closed Fist Has No Claws," penned by Tessa Gratton and released in the 2023 young-adult anthology The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia initiative.
