Velerie Tide
Velerie Tide was a human female strong in the Force who belonged to the Jedi Order. Following the betrayal of the Jedi by the Galactic Republic during the Great Jedi Purge that commenced in 19 BBY, Tide concealed her true nature and integrated herself among the local population of Athio III. However, her connection to the Force was ultimately discovered, leading to her capture. After her death, her remains were encased in amber and put on display within the Jedi tomb situated in the Fortress Inquisitorius on the moon Nur, which served as the headquarters for the Galactic Empire's [Inquisitorius](/article/inquisitorius], an organization dedicated to Jedi-hunting.
In 9 BBY, while infiltrating the fortress to rescue Princess Leia Organa, the fugitive Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi came across Tide and the bodies of numerous other captured Jedi within the tomb. Tide was interred with a haunting gaze, adorned with a handmade necklace, a knitted poncho featuring multicolored stripes, and a head scarf wrapped around her dark, curly hair.
Behind the scenes
Velerie Tide made an appearance in the Obi-Wan Kenobi television series' fourth episode, which was broadcast on June 8, 2022. While the character wasn't identified in the episode, her name was revealed in the reference book Star Wars: Dawn of Rebellion: The Visual Guide, authored by Pablo Hidalgo and Emily Shkoukani. Information from the page featuring Tide was unveiled before the book's release on November 2, 2023, at a Lucasfilm Publishing panel during San Diego Comic Con, and also in an article about it on StarWars.com on July 21, 2023.
