Vistis Garn was a smuggler of the Rodian species and male gender. He resided on the planet of Coruscant during the era known as the Cold War. While primarily in the employ of the criminal syndicate, the Migrant Merchants' Guild, Garn was willing to undertake assignments for any group that could meet his price. When the Black Sun criminal organization contracted him to steal the schematics for the Planet Prison superweapon, the former apprentice of the esteemed Jedi Master Orgus Din tracked Garn down to a Guild warehouse and ultimately triumphed over the Rodian. After interrogating the thief, the Jedi Knight chose to show mercy, allowing Garn to escape. Subsequently, Garn sought refuge with associates on the moon of Nar Shaddaa.
During the Cold War that occurred between the Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire, Vistis Garn, a male Rodian, distinguished himself as a smuggler and thief. By the year 3643 BBY, Garn was splitting his time working for the criminal enterprise known as the Migrant Merchants' Guild located on Coruscant, the capital planet of the Republic, but he also took on independent contracts for other organizations. Garn's activities had not gone unnoticed, as the Coruscant Security Force had opened case file #1142-235-3721 regarding him and offered a reward for his capture.
In that same year, the Sith Lord Tarnis, who was operating under the guise of a Republic scientist named Eli Tarnis, engaged the Black Sun criminal syndicate to procure the design specifications for his superweapon project, the Planet Prison. Despite the rivalry between the Guild and Black Sun, the assignment was delegated to Garn, who collaborated with a Guild team to infiltrate a Republic warehouse. Garn's team—comprising two Rodian thieves, three Ongree slicers, and an Abyssin guard—successfully breached the building's computer network, absconded with the files, and made off with a cache of munitions, weaponry, and rockets. However, Garn was briefly spotted by a security camera. Upon returning to the Old Galactic Market, the area controlled by the Merchants' Guild, Garn and his team reported to a Guild warehouse.

As Guild members, aided by a security droid, unloaded the stolen weapons, one of the slicers decrypted the design files. Immediately upon completion, Garn secretly transmitted a copy to his Black Sun employers. Unbeknownst to Garn, the Republic Strategic Information Service had identified him on the security recording, prompting the dispatch of the former apprentice of Jedi Master Orgus Din to recover both the files and the stolen weapons. The Jedi Knight, accompanied by the Jedi's astromech droid companion T7-O1, stormed the warehouse and subdued the Guild members. Realizing the warehouse was under attack, Garn secured himself within the warehouse's secure room. After recovering the weapons, the Knight breached the security door and confronted the criminal.
Upon recognizing his adversary as a Jedi, Garn offered an apology and activated four autoturrets in an attempt to kill the Knight and T7. However, the pair effortlessly disabled the turrets and disarmed the Rodian, leading to Garn's swift surrender. Upon learning that the Knight sought the design files, he readily handed them over and offered to reveal the identities and locations of his employers in exchange for his freedom. The Jedi agreed and allowed the Rodian to depart peacefully after discovering that Black Sun had hired him. Expressing his gratitude to the Jedi and the droid, Garn stated his intention to seek refuge with friends on the Smuggler's Moon of Nar Shaddaa.
Vistis Garn was a Rodian male characterized by purple eyes and bluish-purple skin. A proficient thief fluent in Rodese, he operated on a mercenary basis, lacking unwavering loyalty to any single faction. His willingness to work for rival entities was evident in his simultaneous employment by the Migrant Merchants' Guild and their competitor, Black Sun. Despite his criminal inclinations, Garn held the Jedi in esteem and was receptive to displays of mercy, albeit motivated by fear following his defeat.
Vistis Garn was a character conceived for Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game launched by BioWare in 2011. He is featured in the Jedi Knight class mission "Stolen Secrets" on Coruscant, where the player receives orders to locate Garn and retrieve stolen weapons from a Merchants' Guild warehouse situated in the Old Galactic Market district. Following his defeat, the player has the option to either spare Garn, earning light-side points, or kill him, resulting in dark side points.
