Wurtz's fleet

Early in the Clone Wars conflict, Admiral Wurtz of the Galactic Republic was in command of a fleet within the Open Circle Armada. Mace Windu, a Jedi General, required three of Wurtz's Star Cruisers to bolster the forces of Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi and other Republic units as they battled the Separatist Alliance during the Battle of Christophsis.

Yoda, a Jedi General, chose to go with the fleet, suspecting the kidnapping of Jabba Desilijic Tiure's son, Rotta, might be connected to a larger scheme. Wurtz's three Venator-class Star Destroyers, along with four Acclamator-class assault ships, reached Christophsis to provide reinforcements to the Republic troops stationed there. Jedi Master Yoda then joined Admiral Wullf Yularen, who had joined the fleet, on the bridge of a Venator-class Star Destroyers, and they started to engage the Confederacy of Independent Systems Navy. Once the blockade began to retreat, the Acclamator-class assault ships made planetfall and deployed their troops onto the planet. The flagship of Wurtz's fleet and the four Acclamators were part of the Open Circle's Fifth Fleet within the Republic military.

Behind the scenes

The 2008 theatrical release Star Wars: The Clone Wars featured Wurtz's fleet for the first time, although it was not identified at that time.
