Plot summary

At The Soundmound, members of Rogue Squadron are listening to a performance by the band Ghost Jedi, and they discuss the precision and mathematical qualities of their music. Koyi Komad, their Twi'lek server, mentions that Rorax Falken, a physicist, composed the music for his students. Tycho Celchu then arrives and recounts his earlier experience with the Ante-Endor Association, explaining how a mysterious Jedi-like figure rescued him. Despite the skepticism of the others, Komad tells the squadron a story about a ghost Jedi who was murdered on Mrlsst years ago and supposedly haunts the campus of the academy. As Komad offers to escort Wedge Antilles to the site of the Jedi's murder, the band's holographic transmission becomes distorted, suggesting interference. Later that night, an Imperial shuttle lands on Mrlsst.

The next morning, Komad guides the squadron to the location where Jedi Taj Junak supposedly was incinerated after surrendering to the Empire to safeguard the academy. Because of this event, the native Mrlssi have long avoided political involvement. Gade Yedan arrives to inform Antilles that the council to decide the ownership of Mrlsst's secret "phantom ship" cloaking device will convene that day. Just then, Rorax Falken passes by in a hoverchair; Dllr Nep excitedly runs after the man but is knocked down, prompting Groznik to attack Falken, but Elscol Loro restrains him. At the council meeting, Antilles discovers that the Empire's representative is Loka Hask, the former pirate captain who killed his parents.

Antilles remembers how his parents, Jagged and Zena Antilles, lost their lives protecting a Corellian space station during a pirate assault. They sacrificed themselves to save hundreds of lives, including those of Wedge and Booster Terrik. A young Wedge Antilles pilots a Z-95 Headhunter to confront the pirates, and while he manages to destroy their ship, Hask escapes, but a parasitic Corellian limpet permanently attaches to the left side of his face.

Currently, the council debates whether to grant the Phantom Project to the New Republic or the Empire. In the meantime, a team of masked infiltrators linked to the Empire, led by Yedan, steals the project's codes, killing a student and destroying the safe in the process. News of the theft reaches the council, and security footage appears to show Tycho Celchu among the infiltrators. With the rebels seemingly responsible for the attack, Antilles is taken into custody.
