Zaadja, a planet, existed within the Outer Rim Territories in a region called the Savareen sector. During the Clone Wars, a conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Separatist Alliance, Onaconda Farr, a Rodian Senator representing Zaadja and the entire sector within the Republic Senate, made an agreement with the Confederacy. This agreement allowed the Savareen sector to receive foodstuffs from the Trade Federation, allies of the Confederacy, in return for granting the Confederacy exploitation rights to Zaadja and other planets in the sector, including Nelvaan and Christophsis.
The planet Zaadja was first referenced in the new Star Wars canon within Rise of the Separatists. This was a 2019 addition to the Star Wars Roleplaying product line by Fantasy Flight Games. Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, Zaadja debuted in the sixty-seventh issue of the Star Wars: Republic comic-book series. This issue was written by Randy Stradley, with illustrations by Brandon Badeaux, and was released by Dark Horse Comics on August 4, 2006.
