A Snivvian male named Zutton, an artist, could be found spending time at Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina on the planet of Tatooine circa 0 BBY. Alongside his brother, Takeel, he was present when [Luke Skywalker](/article/luke_skywalker], a local moisture farmer, and the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi entered the cantina. He remained there during their confrontation with the troublemakers Doctor Cornelius Evazan and Ponda Baba. Later, Skywalker and Kenobi walked past Zutton as he spoke with [Mosep Binneed](/article/mosep_binneed], a Nimbanel, on the streets of Mos Eisley.
Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina in Mos Eisley, on the planet Tatooine, was a regular haunt for the Snivvian male artist Zutton and his brother Takeel. Snivvians, like these two, were often called snaggletooths. In 0 BBY, when [Luke Skywalker](/article/luke_skywalker], the local moisture farmer, entered the cantina with his droids C-3PO and R2-D2, Zutton was standing with his back facing the entrance, engaged in conversation with a human in front of the booth where Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes were performing.
Afterward, Zutton shifted to the front of the bar and turned to observe Skywalker when Wuher, the bartender, announced that droids were not permitted. The Snivvian then proceeded further down the bar, positioning himself on the opposite side when the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi intervened to shield Skywalker from Doctor Cornelius Evazan and Ponda Baba, the disruptive duo. Zutton subsequently departed the cantina and was conversing with Mosep Binneed, the Nimbanel, in the street as Kenobi, Skywalker, and his two droids passed them en route to Docking Bay 94.
Years later, in 35 ABY, Zutton was present at the Festival of the Ancestors on Pasaana.
The name "Snaggletooth" originated with the initial Kenner Star Wars toy line, where it was assigned to an action figure based on the Snivvian character. Later materials, now considered part of the Star Wars Legends timeline, clarified that Snaggletooth was merely a nickname, and the male Snivvian's actual name was Zutton. The name "Zutton" was later incorporated into canon with the publication of the Star Wars: Alien Archive canon guidebook. Conversely, the Star Wars: Card Trader mobile app was the first canon source to use the name Snaggletooth. In Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope itself, the character remains unnamed.
While the character in the film sports a red shirt, the original Kenner toy depicted him in blue clothing. This was later changed to red during the toy line's production, along with the figure's height. Snaggletooth's overall design later provided inspiration for Katt Mol, a Snivvian character featured in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television episode "Padawan Lost."
