Katt Mol

Katt Mol, a Snivvian male, was seized by Trandoshan hunters in the year 20 BBY. Held captive within a cage aboard a Trandoshan freighter, Mol encountered the captured Jedi padawan Ahsoka Tano. After discovering the Trandoshans' sinister intentions, Mol revealed their impending doom to Ahsoka. After being abandoned on the moon Wasskah, Mol and another captive, Lika, tried to escape the Trandoshans, but both died while lost within Wasskah's jungles. Later, Tano retaliated against the Trandoshans with a successful assault, avenging Mol's demise.

Biography

Captured

Tano and Mol aboard the Trandoshan ship

During the year 20 BBY, a Snivvian male named Katt Mol was taken prisoner by a group of Trandoshan hunters that kidnapped sentient beings and killed them on hunting expeditions. Following his capture, Mol was transported to the guild's prisoner ship, where he was confined to a cage. There, he learned of the Trandoshans' plans for him and his fellow prisoners: the Sakiyan Vadoo, the Selkath Morgo, and the Terrelian Jango Jumper Lika.

Later, while on the planet Felucia, the Trandoshan Lo-Taren captured another victim: a Jedi Padawan known as Ahsoka Tano. This Padawan was placed in a cage directly opposite Mol's. Upon regaining consciousness, she sought information from Mol. The Snivvian solemnly informed her that they, along with the other victims, were destined to be hunted for sport.

The Trandoshan freighter subsequently arrived at the moon of Wasskah, which served as the Trandoshan guild's base and hunting grounds. Under the direction of the Trandoshan leader, Garnac, Mol and the other captives were transported to Island Four and released onto a beach. Garnac ordered Lo-Taren to use the ship's weaponry to drive Mol and the others into the island's jungles, resulting in the deaths of Morgo and Vadoo. Mol, however, managed to escape, as did Lika and Tano.

After fleeing Island Four's beach, Mol joined forces with Lika by the following day, which also marked the beginning of the guild's next hunt. While traversing the jungle, the pair became targets of the hunters Ratter and Sochek, who were concealed within the jungle canopy in their hover pod. Coincidentally, Tano, hidden in the trees, had also spotted the two survivors.

Despite her desire to assist Mol, Kalifa, a previously captured Jedi youngling and recent ally of Tano's, advised against intervention, believing it was too late. Moments later, Mol and Lika were attacked. Ratter's blaster pistol killed Mol with a single shot. Lika fled deeper into the jungle, only to be killed by Sochek's precise shot from his sniper rifle. Distressed by Mol and Lika's deaths, Tano quietly left the scene.

Nevertheless, Mol's death was not in vain. Following a series of minor conflicts, Tano rallied several other prisoners to finally retaliate against the Trandoshans. After a coordinated assault on the Trandoshan base, Garnac and his guild were defeated.

Personality and traits

Katt Mol was a Snivvian characterized by pink skin, brown hair, and gold-colored eyes. By the time he encountered Tano, Mol had accepted his fate, which he then shared with her. After being abandoned on the Trandoshan hunting island, Mol quickly escaped Lo-Taren's attack and allied himself with Lika. However, their trail was discovered, and both were swiftly killed on the first day of the new Trandoshan hunt.

Behind the scenes

Conceptual artwork of Katt Mol for "Padawan Lost"

Katt Mol's debut was in "Padawan Lost," the twenty-first episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars's third season. James Arnold Taylor provided the character's voice. Katt Mol's appearance in "Padawan Lost" was inspired by the Kenner Snaggletooth action figure and its film counterpart from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. "Padawan Lost" was broadcast on April 1, 2011, as the first episode of a two-part season finale.

In an earlier version of the episode, Katt Mol and Vadoo were to team up and then join the hunter Simna, whom they would work with to survive. Though shot, the scene was cut for time. In another deleted scene, Mol and Vadoo were to be tracked and chased by Ratter and Lo-Taren. However, a similar scene is present in the final episode, albeit with Lika in place of Vadoo, and Sochek instead of Lo-Taren.
