224 was a droid of the OOM command battle droid type. This droid fought for the Separatist Droid Army during the Clone Wars, which was a conflict involving the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Not long after receiving a promotion, 224 was sent to the moon named Rugosa. There, under the command of Supreme Leader Asajj Ventress, a Separatist leader, 224 led her army. Their mission was to prevent Jedi Grand Master Yoda from meeting with King Katuunko of Toydaria. Despite multiple attempts to eliminate Yoda, 224 and the droid forces were confronted by the Jedi Master, who emerged from hiding and calmly sat in front of 224's Armored Assault Tank. The Separatist battle droids did not anticipate this tactic. After 224 contacted Asajj Ventress for instructions, the commander ordered an attack on Yoda. However, the droids hesitated, which allowed a clone trooper ambush of the Confederate forces to occur. Ultimately, Yoda dismantled 224.
Designated as 224, this battle droid was an OOM command battle droid. It was manufactured by Baktoid Combat Automata and Baktoid Armor Workshop for service in the Separatist Droid Army during the Clone Wars. The Clone Wars was a conflict between the Confederacy of Independent Systems (the Separatists) and the Galactic Republic. During this conflict, the droid was promoted to a leadership role. Soon after, it was deployed amongst a battalion of other battle droids to the moon called Rugosa, under the command of Sith apprentice Asajj Ventress. The Separatists had discovered that King Katuunko of the planet Toydaria and Jedi Grand Master Yoda were secretly meeting on the moon. This meeting was to discuss the possibility of establishing a Republic supply post on Toydaria in exchange for protecting the Toydarian people. Ventress reached Katuunko first and offered Separatist protection instead. However, after learning that Yoda had successfully landed, she and the king made an agreement. If Yoda could defeat her droid forces and reach Katuunko, the Toydarians would side with the Republic. If he failed, they would align with the Separatists.
Upon arriving on the moon in a C-9979 landing craft, 224 took charge of a section of the droid forces, leading them in a search-and-destroy mission against Yoda. This group included three Armored Assault Tanks, with 224 riding in one of them. They spotted the Jedi Grand Master, accompanied by three clone troopers, within the coral forests of Rugosa, and 224 ordered an immediate attack. However, the Separatist forces were too far away to effectively engage. 224 then ordered a halt to the attack, as the AATs were too large to navigate through the dense foliage. One AAT driver, ignoring the commander's order, believed the tanks could pass through, but crashed and was ejected from the vehicle. With the vehicles unable to proceed, 224 remained behind while dispatching ground troops to locate the Republic forces. Yoda and his companions eliminated two patrols of B1-series battle droids and a group of B2-series super battle droids, but were eventually pushed back by droidekas.
As Yoda and his team retreated, 224 and the tanks slowly advanced through the coral. They eventually reached a valley devoid of coral, where the Republic forces were hiding. Yoda revealed himself alone to the droids and sat down to meditate. 224 contacted Ventress via hologram, informing her of the situation. She ordered an immediate attack on the Jedi. The Separatist forces opened fire, but Yoda was too fast. He destroyed several droids before reaching 224's tank and using his lightsaber to cut a hole in the bottom. The tank crew tried to escape, but Yoda used the Force to pull them back into the vehicle, killing them. 224 was then pulled from the command hatch and cut apart by Yoda's lightsaber. After Katuunko saw smoke rising from the battle, Ventress tried to contact 224 for a report, but another droid informed her of 224's destruction. Ultimately, Yoda defeated the remaining droid forces, reached the rendezvous point, and secured the allegiance of the Toydarians.
224 had just been promoted when deployed to Rugosa, and struggled to get troops to obey commands, often repeating orders. One droid disobeyed 224, crashing a tank, which annoyed the command droid. As Yoda dragged 224 to their death, the droid lamented being destroyed so soon after promotion.
Like other OOM command battle droids, 224 was 1.93 meters tall. Designed for combat and command, 224 had tan-colored plating with yellow markings indicating their commander rank.
224 debuted in Ambush, the first episode of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars' first season, which aired in 2008. Matthew Wood voiced them, as he did all battle droids in the series.
