Before 54 BBY, Katuunko was born and would become the King ruling over the planet of Toydaria and its species, the Toydarians, during the Clone Wars. His primary concerns were honesty and the well-being of his people, leading him to initially maintain his homeworld's neutrality in the war. However, upon the request of the Galactic Republic to assist the suffering Twi'leks of Ryloth, he realized it was time to take action. Following discussions with Senator Bail Organa of Alderaan and Junior Representative Jar Jar Binks, he consented to the Republic's use of Toydaria as a staging ground for supply missions to Ryloth, a decision opposed by Lott Dod of the Trade Federation.
Katuunko facilitated a clandestine meeting on the neutral moon of Rugosa between the Toydarian Royal Delegation and Jedi Grand Master Yoda. This arrangement was discovered by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, who dispatched Sith apprentice Asajj Ventress to sabotage it. Yoda triumphed over Ventress's forces, securing the Toydarian's allegiance, after which Katuunko began representing his people in the Galactic Senate and offered to host a Republic base.
Eventually, Count Dooku orchestrated the capture of Katuunko by Ventress's replacement, Savage Opress. Instead of capturing him, the apprentice killed the King by Force-choking him during a confrontation with Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, and then threw his body to the floor of the Toydarian Throne Room. Dooku was enraged upon learning of Savage's actions.
Standing at 1.52 meters (5 feet), Katuunko was a male Toydarian. He possessed gray skin, black [hair](/article/hair], and yellow eyes. Katuunko's primary goal was to protect his people. While he needed persuasion to join the Republic, his focus remained on governing Toydaria. Despite his agreement with the Republic, he allowed both them and the Separatists the chance to earn his support. Katuunko had some skill wielding a sword, but was outmatched by Savage Opress.
Katuunko displayed honor and empathy, refusing to ignore the suffering of the Twi'leks on Ryloth.
Katuunko's debut was in "Ambush," the opening episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars' first season, which originally aired on October 3, 2008. Brian George provided his voice.
