Phobos Legion

The Phobos Legion, also known as the 39th, functioned as a legion of Sith troopers serving the Sith Eternal cult. This particular legion consisted of approximately five thousand troopers and participated in the war fought between the First Order and the Resistance. The Phobos Legion's service ended when the Sith Eternal's military was vanquished at the Battle of Exegol in 35 ABY. The significance of the legion's designation, which was the name of the ancient Sith Lord Phobos, remained a secret from the galaxy at large and was only understood by the cultists within the Sith Eternal.

The 39th Legion, more commonly known as the Phobos Legion, was a legion within the army of the Sith Eternal. The Sith Eternal was a dark side cult dedicated to the Sith, operating from their throneworld of Exegol located in the Unknown Regions. Each legion of the Sith Eternal's armed forces received a numerical designation along with the name of an ancient Sith Lord. In the case of the 39th, that name was Phobos. The meaning behind these names was not widely known throughout the galaxy, and only the cultists of the Sith Eternal understood their historical significance.

The Phobos Legion, as a component of the Sith Eternal, was composed of five thousand Sith troopers and Sith Jetpack Troopers. These soldiers were created from various sources, including the offspring of cultists, former members of the Galactic Empire, and children who had been conscripted into the First Order and then identified as having potential before being secretly taken away. The legions of the Sith Eternal were further organized into squadrons of ten troopers each, with a mix of standard and aerial troops. The Sith troopers of the Phobos Legion were equipped with crimson red Sith trooper armor and could wield either ST-W48 blaster rifles or FWMB-10B repeating blasters. The Sith Jetpack Troopers, on the other hand, utilized NJP-900 integrated jetpacks and F-11ABA heavy blaster cannons.

History

The Phobos Legion saw action during the war between the First Order and the Resistance, which spanned from 34 ABY to 35 ABY. The Sith Eternal and their forces met their end at the Battle of Exegol in 35 ABY. During this battle, a combined force of the Resistance and a Citizens' Fleet from across the galaxy successfully defeated Darth Sidious, the Dark Lord of the Sith, along with his entire forces, which included the Phobos Legion.

Behind the scenes
